Tepper moves the team to Quebec.

Dundon buys an expansion team and plants it in Charlotte. Expansion team would be better than the Panthers within 1 season.
man I'd love to have Dundon own a football team here but I don't think he has the $ for an NFL team. also not sure he'd be as good with football as he is with the Canes, his AAF purchase didn't exactly work out great

He tanked the AAF on purpose to get in the good graces of the NFL and jump to the head of the expansion list.

And Dundon himself may not have all the coin necessary to buy a team outright, but that is why they made group buys a thing.

He'd be richer than Mark Davis, he has nothing but the team.

NFL teams are on an entirely different level than NHL teams. Mark Davis' owning of the Raiders alone makes him probably 5x richer than Dundon (no one knows his exact net worth, but estimation is between $1-2B, with significant chunk of that already tied up in the Canes). Lead investor needs to have 30% which for the cheapest team is over $1B. NFL would laugh at any attempt by Dundon to become a main owner of an NFL team. They chose d-bag Tepper over SC billionaire and sports enthusiast Ben Navarro because Tepper could pay cash and still have billions to spare. They won't mess with someone who could maybe barely be able to afford the 30%. Dundon could certainly get a minority stake.

Seattle Seahawks are really the next on the block to go on sale once we get past the March 2025 date that has the condition of the city getting 10% of the proceeds if sold before then.
That will top the Washington purchase of $6 billion.

Very few people can afford that. Even the current long time owners are having trouble getting the cash to put into escrow for the signing bonuses that the big time QBs and elite players are getting these days, per the NFL rules. Almost all of the net worth of a few owners like Davis, the Bears, etc. is in the NFL team.

That's why the NFL is picking people who have 11 figure net worth, not just 10 figures.

Only a matter of time before the Saudis start buying up all the NFL franchises like they did with EPL teams

This just makes me shudder for the day Dundon decides he knows better than Tulsky, Waddell and Brind'amour

I remember the Thrashers. Still strange to hope, of all people, Don Waddell doesn't lose the owner's ear

If TD bought the Panthers, would that be a subprime type of deal?
