Zarkoff has not impressed.

Feel like Dowd's line is missing Seto.

I've said it numerous times already. LA has no room to go into a funk this year. PAC teams are better and it's going to be a dogfight.

games don't start 0-0 for us, we start every game in a deficit because unlike other average goalies (Ward, Halak, Allen, etc) we are GUARANTEED at least 1 bad goal.... unless we play defense so tight that we eliminate all those chances

Which they haven't. Instead we see whatever Doughty(among others) was doing last night. Maybe they can't play that shut down defense anymore. They haven't really done that for the last couple years anyway. Just one example, up 3-0 late in the 2nd at home in the last game of the season with the division on the line, playing a Jets team with nothing to play for, and they lose. With Quick in net.

yeah the issue is that his linemates are Setoguchi, Purcell, Lewis, King, Brown, Gaborik and other players that have no business being on the first line

even Crosby never had players this bad to work with

Well when he had 16 a couple years ago, he was playing with Gaborik, who was still good. I think Williams was on that line most of the year too.

Once again, King and Lewis have at least as many, or more, 5v5 points as Toffoli and Pearson this year. Setoguchi has as many 5v5 goals as Toffoli does. Both King and Lewis have more. I know some of them were luck, but what does that say about Toffoli? What is he not doing to take advantage of a bounce?

Someone isn't doing enough, but their names aren't Setoguchi, King, or Lewis.

i was talking about Kopi

but Toffy i always pegged him as a 40-50pt player with the Kings and again this year is a mess so i won't judge too quickly

i was referring to the back to back Budaj shutouts (in case someone would point those out to me to prove a point) ;)

but i think we have done fairly well defensively this year but yes it's obvious Doughty isn't playing at elite level

however, that's still not the problem

it's the obvious goaltending

Just like the last few years he's trying to do too much to make up for no scoring and weak goaltending.

If Quick had played last night, Doughty wouldn't have been scrambling on that 2 on 1. He would have picked the puck carrier and stayed with him only, and relied on Quick to take the other guy (then who knows, Quick may have slid waaay out the crease [cuz he can also see the team can't score] and given up the goal anyway... )

I know there was no doubt about Kopitar, but I wish that we had some older veteran leadership type that could have taken the captaincy, or a defensman like Norstrom, etc. The C has been an absolute anchor, and I don't understand it. It's not like this is a market where the fans are ruthless.

one of the worst Kings games this season, if not the worst. LOTS of players had an off night and it really showed

yea, and yet when as you say Gaborik was good he played with Boogaard and Fedoruk on the same line.
So yes, some need top talent to have offensive numbers, some just produce with crap teams.

And Crosby played with Dupuis, a legitimate 4th to 3rd liner for Wild that made play offs once in a while.
Lets just say, all go through those periods.
Kopi is a great player to have on team, but he is not Crosby. Not saying he is worse, just for different stuff :)

He is more like Koivu brothers, workhorse.

Mikko is playing better than Kopi this year, at least with goal scoring. The pressure must be immense on Anze after signing that big deal and being named captain. I think its taken its toll on him. Toews is having a rough year as well, so he's not the only one struggling.

Why has Seto been benched anyway? I don't get it.

It wouldn't surprise me if there was a conditioning element to that. He was jumping at the beginning of the year, but hasn't dealt with an NHL schedule in a while. Since he wasn't playing great and it was at the end of a busy schedule stretch, its as good of a time as any.

we scored a goal and we have been shutout 3 times in a row I would say one of them 3 games were worse I think you have a short term memory if u think last night was worse

Where I don't agree fully with the we scored a goal so it must be better than the shutout losses. In this case I think it's true. You can get shutout playing very well just run into a hot goalie.
But I would say one of the first 3 games this year was likely where this team looked it worst this year.

well i don't agree that is was anywhere near the worse game for la The shutout games were all worst imo Yes i agree that being shutout in itself could be running in a hot goalie However this was not the case in the shutouts The play was awful My point was the kings played worse then just last night and the poster in question seem to say this a lot ( like every 3rd loss or so)

thats not necessarily true. sometimes they get a lot of good looks and just cant score, sometimes they face a hot goalie and just get stonedwalled like tsanuri said. being shutout doesnt mean you played a terrible game.last night probably wasnt the worst but it was up there, for me at least

edit: this is literally the first time Ive said anything regarding a bad loss. maybe you are confusing me with someone else?

If it is i am sorry but i seem to recall you doing it before again sorry if i have mistakenly put u in the chicken little poster group As i said above the shutout losses were much worse No effect and not a hot goalie in all 3 of the games in question

I generally try to post positive stuff and stay away from the doom-and-gloom crap, which makes it hard being here sometimes
the Canes game was just really hard for me to watch

With the all star game at Staples this year will the Kings get shut out? That would be embarrassing. I for one say only Jeff Carter deserves to be an all star. Kopitar got his big fat contract, wife, kid, dog, cup x 2, and looks like **** with the rest of this underachieving boring hockey team that is hard to watch. Kopitar has 2 goals in 21 games! He should be ashamed to cash that check.

It was hard for all of us. 3 and a half days off, with lots of golf played during that time, and they played a terribly flat, soft, disinterested game. There is no excuse for that.

They just came off 4 straight days off. I agree he dropped off but no one should have been tired last night playing against a team that played the night previously

Maybe the Canes are just good. I was really enjoying their game. Control the puck, attack with speed, force defensive mistakes. Kings aren't going to go 82-0.

Short term, yea. I meant more like NHL shape, he hasn't played a full NHL schedule since 13-14. The grind and taking hits all the time is probably catching up to him a bit. He's had a good 10 days off so hopefully he gets a little jump back.

They certainly are--stick to their system, loads of talent, great in possession. Their biggest problem earlier in the season was that they weren't getting the goaltending to win games they were controlling (sound familiar?). They can also sneak up on people. Doesn't mean we didn't also play like a bunch of slugs playing flag football the morning after Thanksgiving!
