Isn't Pulkkinen injured right now? You can't waive an injured guy.

Wait, he played recently, never mind.

Yeah he had offseason shoulder surgery this past June, At first it sounded like he might not be ready until sometime in November. But i guess he progressed nicely here and he played a few preseason games here. And looks like he's ready to go for the start of the season. Jurco is out though after back surgery and wont be ready until early to mid November at the earliest.

He never looks ready to go. He's just kind of "there."

We just lost a dude with as hard of a shot, if not harder, who can actually HIT THE NET, and who is a lot more poised with the puck and passing than Pulkinnen is. Pulk panics with the puck on his stick, has a tendency to kind of sling it nowhere, and barely gets his shot off. And when he does, he misses.

Frk is calm and cool with the puck, he doesn't just fling it to an area, and he hits the net. With low, hard, smart shots. He had a beautiful goal kicking the puck from skate to stick to fire one home on the PP immediately after Pulkinnen had the same opportunity and flubbed it.

So what does Holland do? Keeps Pulkinnen. What a joke. I'm sickened by it. A second rounder down the tubes for nothing.

How is Frk's skating? I haven't seen him in a while but remember it not being great a few years ago.

mckenzie tweeted that up to 3 teams put in a claim for frk, so gotta wonder if holland couldn't have gotten a pick for him.

In the training camp thread it was noted that Nashville is now at 22 players and has room for one more. I wonder if they were one of the teams making a claim.

Was upset that he didn't make the club. Even more upset that he got claimed. I hope he has a great season with the Canes. He has some serious potential if he keeps his conditioning up.

I thought Pulkkinen was a supremely skilled winger with some upside.

Yeah... so far Pulkkinen has scored 20 points against NHL competition, when Frk has 0 points and 0 games on his belt against NHLrs.

Both are still kind of question marks and Frk probably more.

Nothing to lose for Carolina to try him, of course.

There's no point in even getting upset at the things Holland does anymore, when the next stupid move is always right around the corner..Frk finally starts looking like a player after a couple of years of looking like a bust, and he's given away for nothing :handclap:

Good luck in Carolina, Frk. Hope you make it.

Just curious, which prospect do Wings fans see getting waived next year? As a Canes fan, if I know that, I can start watching them now. :sarcasm:

Seriously though, can Wings fan give me the lowdown on Frk? Strengths, weaknesses, upside, where he might fit in?

Insane shot and plays with an edge (sometimes)

Takes untimely penalties due to temper and his hockey IQ isnt anything special

Prob going to be a good 3rd liner with 2nd PP unit time

 Well, you don't have to worry about Carolina doing that. With all the young defensemen the Canes have: Faulk (24), Murphy (23), Slavin (22), Pesce (21), McKeown (20), Fleury (20), and Bean (18)...I don't see the Canes claiming a D.
