Making yourself available to the media isn't a press conference.

Thanks for the clarification.

Well we already knew, this pc was probably required by the insurance company like others pointed out.

What press conference? Required by the insurance company?

We are one step away from screaming NUMINATI IS CREATING HYBRID HUMAN BABY LIONS!

Thanks for the clarification.

Making yourself available to the media is for them to ask questions they have, a press conference is to announce something. I typed it slower this time for you to follow along.

Face it. He IS done. He is for all intensive purposes retired. If he announces it, he leaves a hell of a lot of money on the table.

The man is 35 years old; the human body takes more and more time to heal as it ages. At 35, with a knee injury that hurts to climb and decline something as simple as a staircase, you can bet he isn't coming back. The surgery needed to repair this, has a 50% success rate, which are very unfavorable odds - what else is there to discuss?

For people saying he'll come back in two years, at 37 years old, after not playing for three years - have a word with yourself! If a 23 year old Suzuki was rusty after missing a training camp, imagine the rust from three years out of the game and following several major surgeries!

Per wikipedia: "A press conference or news conference is a media event in which notable individuals or organizations invite journalists to hear them speak and ask questions."

A press conference can be for a major announcement, or it can be a way to allow the media to ask questions about a topic all at once (in this case, Carey's injury). Full credit to Carey with being transparent about his situation.

Running to wiki is like using some nerd stat to prove a player scores twice as much when we uses half the amount of butter on a bagel.

If they say Carey will hold a press conference then he will make an opening statement to announce something.

If they say Carey "will speak with the media" then he will not make an opening statement and just take questions.

... intents. Blame my phone for that. And.. thanks for pointing it out. Lol.

Your phone made you get lazy and not proofread what you wrote? I think your phone has too much control over you!

He’s been through a lot, and earned every dollar of his contract. I was always hard on him as a player, but he won me over with that dream run the other year. He did everything he could, gave it his all and it was almost enough - maybe it would have been with competent management. When we reached the final, he had a tough couple games to open the series, but shook it off and gave us a chance. The rest of the roster just wasn’t enough. Tons of respect for him as a person and I’ll remember him fondly as a player. I wish him all the best and hope he sticks around in some capacity.
He only won you over in that last playoff run?!?!

Sheeesh, did he not do enough leading up until then. Literally one of the best goalie the franchise has ever had….literally Vézina and Hart trophies…did he not do enough for you?

You were probably one of those fans booing him during preseason.

This is a message board not a thesis.

I reallly don’t think he will play again.

It’s been 6 months since he played a handful of games after being out for a year. He said today he can’t walk up the stairs without pain…so it’s been basicallly 18 months and still can’t walk up stairs. I’m not holding my breath for his return

IN the end, at least we know he's really not thinking of operation. Which means, he's actually retiring but want to cash in. So be it. It's his money. It was given to him. He didn't steal it.
But if it was Drouin we’d be calling him a piece of shit for stealing Molson’s money and not offering it back.

While being unable to carry your toddler up the stairs at home. How fun and exhilarating.
I had a left kneecap reconstruction at 23 after blowing it and its cruciates out in a sports injury. I soon after sired two kids, didn't live in a bungalow, and had to carry my kids up those stairs for a few years regardless of the pain. And I didn't pick up $10m a year for doing so.

I'm sure I'm a long way from being unique on this board with that sort of experience. I'm glad CP is in a good place but let's not turn him into some sort of martyr because he has to do Dad stuff with knackered knees and daily pain.

I’ll keep this short because I’ve stated it way too many times.

He always choked in big games before the run to the final. That year he finally got through whatever mental block was causing that before. The Carey Price before then would have crumbled after that first bad game against TB.

No he isn’t one of the greatest goalies the Habs have ever had. In terms of longevity, sure. But not in terms of legacy and winning pedigree. There is a long list of guys ahead of him that he will never come close to.

If you are counting guys like Theodore, Hackett, Thibeault, Huet then sure he’s one of the greatest in comparison.

I didn’t want to rehash this, but your obnoxious post forced me to lmao.

Sounds like a soft retirement, lol.

He's done. Thank you for a great career. In my opinion the best goalie since Hasek/Brodeur. Starting a franchise with unpredictable results, I would pick him over Lundqvist and the rest.

A worthy successor to the long lineage of great MTL goaltenders. Doesn't look out of place beside them.
