Not an inspiring game all around. Lot of the same problems.

*25 mil on IR.
*Aho was terrible...whiffing on pucks left and right
*PP anti-clutch. Honestly need to find a new pp coach
*Jarvis sophomore slump to be expected. At least he doesn't eat much cap while he figures it out.
*Zebras were rough. can't control that.
*Team has no bite/edge. All the real contenders do. TB/Bos/Col.

The PP has two major issues.

1. They have a literal AHL player on the top unit.

2. Any team that does any video prep knows exactly what they are doing. I counted 6 blind passes that Colorado was just standing waiting for on the PK. And their PK is atrocious. There is absolutely no mystery in what they are doing.

Doesn't the coach bear some responsibility for some of this lack creativity and predictive game plans? I know that's sacrilege to say here but watching the same issues over and over.

I would like to add, while Hurricanes fans have been spoiled on defense, I would obviously take Makar over any defenseman on the Canes, and Toews over any defenseman not named Slavin, and that one I would have to think really hard about.

Shit I would take Makar, MacKinnon, and probably Ratanen over any Hurricanes player. They’re one of the most stacked teams in the league when it comes to top skill. And it takes some serious depth to bridge that gap.

Personnel is a bigger problem. The half walls are not good enough. Aho can finish, but he can’t overpower a goalie. Ditto Necas. Svechnikov takes forever to corral and shoot. Teravainen wants to pass.

All they can do is pass it around hoping for the perfect play or a good bounce off a point shot.

I have little faith that this isn’t just going to be a perpetual weakness with this current group.

I have been a huge Rod critic especially being outcoached in the playoffs year after year. But we're not getting anyone better so hopefully he figures it out.

Colorado is a bad stylistic matchup for this team. Too fast and skilled 5v5. They don’t stand a chance of winning the special teams battle either.

Rod wants us to have the identity of a fast forechecking team that thrives on 5v5 and stays out of the box. That is the style we should beat.

We have struggled with special teams battles losing to Boston, TB, and NYR.

I think it's time for a new pp coach. I'm sure Daniel's does more than that so no need to see him go.....but let's add an offensive mind or shooting coach to the coaching borg.

Yes, Rod is and always will be a Caniac legend, but this is a business. He is subject to fair criticism and scrutiny when things aren't going well. While nobody is calling for change (yet), he has a duty to reassess his coaching tactics, as do the others behind the bench.
