I agree with you re: C versus F.....overall though, Domi acquisition has been a BORG fail particularly when compared to other available players at deadline.
I struggle to really call it a fail given the cheap acquisition cost, low risk move that didn't pan out is meh. That said guys like Copp and Vatrano we're expensive but proving their worth.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing some young call-ups inject some energy after 2 mostly lifeless games. Drury & Chatfield for sure, but as others have said, plenty of other options (can Pono play wing at all?). Between Vegas, Minny, Cal, etc there's going to be some options to improve this off-season.

Boy there are some hot takes in here. If some of you had been GM of the Bolts in 2019, sounds like you'd have fired Cooper, significantly altered the roster, and perhaps never won 2 Cups in a row. I think 3Canes touched on something that may be at play here, and that's expectations. Based on some of the comments, seems like several here feel (subconsciously?) like the Canes currently have (or should have) a core that multiple Cup winning franchises like the Bolts, Black Hawks, or Pens had when they dominated. I don't see that quite yet, hopefully it's a work in progress.

The Borg hasn't hit every single decision out of the park and might have even made a mistake or two? Break it up! It's not like they've taken the franchise from a nine-year playoff drought to 4 straight appearances, the best regular season record in team history, or built up one of the deepest crop of prospects in the leag . . . uh, hold that thought.

And Brind'Amour's coaching tenure being questioned because of a bad challenge? Really?

Look, I get the frustration and that this board is a place to vent, but it seems like emotion has displaced quite a bit of perspective after just 2 games.

I never really came into this postseason knowing if we were capable of winning the Cup this year. And I don’t mean that in a Negative Nancy way, just in comparison to teams like (at the time) Avs, Bolts, Cats (ironicaly two of these are struggling currently).

But like others, I NEED to see some noticable growth against Boston this year in the postseason to affirm that we are at least getting appreciably closer to the ultimate goal.

I honesty think the verdict is still out on this as home ice appears to be such a huge factor in the quality of both teams’ play.

We’ll see.

ETA: Remember a bunch of Boston’s big players were virtual NO SHOWS too at PNC and Aho was a monster in game 2. It goes both ways.

I'm mostly in the camp that the team winning tomorrow night takes the series. Hope the team can match the level of play in the stands. I'll be there.

I was grasping at straws toward the end, man. I wasn't counting on it going 9 deep lol
Lol you could hardly be accused of slacking. Was just ribbing you a bit.

ETA: Tried to follow in your footsteps with my GDT, but will be counting on you later this postseason to bring us to the Promised Land :)

First, where is Jarvis in your lineups? I haven't heard any lingering effects from his groin shot.

I'm not sure how you are determining these "off-handed" spots.

Nino is LH. So if Fast is on RW, Nino is in the correct spot. The LH forwards who routinely play RW are Svech and TT.

Lorentz is LH, Stepan is RH. Unless you are flipping them for some unknown reason, they are fine. And both are completely capable of playing wing, not just C. In fact, I'd say we don't even know if Lorentz can play C at the NHL level because of the NHL depth this team has at C.

Same with Necas; if Domi is playing LW then RH Necas is in the right spot. And again; I'd want to see Necas play C for an extended period before concluding he's superior there to RW.

I did forget Jarvis, which helps a little. I based positions on NHL roster info, so I do know there is some swapping that could go on.
