Even if they are ready, which I am skeptical of, I think it's better to put Pesce and Slavin in Charlotte for the year. Even Faulk was in Charlotte for most of a season before coming up. Some AHL seasoning and systems work will be great for both of them. It's nice to see their skill and think about the 2016-2017 Hurricanes needing to make room for them both in the lineup, as it sounds like. And Fleury. Ho boy. Faulk-Fleury-Hanifin-Pesce-Slavin-Hainsey? We probably need to trade one of them for a similar forward.

While I agree with you on sending Slavin and Pesce down, Thats not what happened with Faulk. Faulk made the team out of camp his first season out of college. After a few games, in which he struggled, he was sent down for 12 games, came back up and has been in the NHL ever since. The next season was the lockout so he ended playing another 30 in the AHL until the lockout ended but would've been in the NHL on day 1 if there wasn't a lockout. I think both Slavin and Peace will be in the AHL most of the season unless there are a bunch of injuries or deadline trades.

And Faulk had a little bit of leeway, considering his defensive partner at the time. He had the worn-out husk of Tomas Kaberle as a partner, who seemed to believe he was still in his youth. So Kaberle would pinch or be out of position, under the idea that he could get back in time should anything happen, leaving the rookie to defend against any odd-man break that came about. Recipe for disaster.

That's not to say Faulk wasn't helped by that AHL stint, of course.
