NBC was probably licking their chops at this game. It had everything they like: high scoring and a penalty shot. Not sure why they don't air Carolina more than once a season, we usually give them high scoring games: 5-0 win last year with Chicago, now this 8-4 game.

Some small-market yahoos ravage The Blackhawks and... a marketable NY team whenever given a chance, and he asks why the chances aren't forthcoming. :)

That's like only one Penguin slaughter away from being completely removed from the league.

"The Carolina Hurricanes have the worst goaltending in the league" - Ray Ferraro

This is one statement I can say I 100% agree with. Sadly it was refreshing to hear this. I hope GMRF heard as well. Lack and his what, 10 games are not why this team is out of the playoffs. He's part of the problem, but the one who must have nude pictures is quite terrible as well.

Gotta wonder if Johnny F. didn't prompt that from Ferraro....something like, "Hey Ray, make sure you call out the ****** Hurricanes' goalies. That idiot Tripp Tracy is all sunshine and rainbows."

So I'm a bit late to the party on the Ferraro H-Cane goalie comments...but I have to say a couple things.

WRT folks saying how great this was to finally hear an unbiased critique...I can think of many times were Tripp would call out a bad goal given up...he does it very gently though..."Ward would like that one back"...that sort of thing. Ferraro was much more blunt/aggressive...I suspect this is what some were actually finding enjoyable.

WRT Ferraro's comments...to paraphrase..."worst goaltending in the league, worst SV% in the league, that's a goal that should not go in". On the specific goal critique, I agree.

However, Ward and Lack are not the worst goaltending duo in the league...it seemed like he had that bomb queued up going into the match for a nice soundbite...Ward helped him out by giving him an opening to use it. Anyways, Wack/Lardo is not the worst...but they are bottom quartile though.

Not sure if any even cares to argue this point, as it doesn't really change much...worst vs bottom quartile...still need to improve...nevertheless, IMO commentary was a bit over-the-top.

I would like to hear your list of 5 worse tandems.

Worst TEAM goaltending based on SV%

#30: Dallas - 89.2%
#29: WPG - 89.7%
#28: Philly - 89.7%
#27: Canes - 89.8%
#26: Col. - 89.9%
#25: Det - 90.1%

Not a whole lot of difference between #25 and #29. Only 8 more saves on the entire season would move the Canes from 27 to 25.

I would take Varly or Mrazek over Wardo.

Howard, Mason, or Neuverth are debatable

Yeah, I wasn't suggesting who I would take or not take, as frankly, it's kind of splitting hairs since they've all been terrible this year.

I was just expanding on Stranger's point that the Canes weren't the "worst" in the NHL, but not worth arguing as they are in that bottom 5, in which they all stink.
