The first 2 against Sammy were of the softer variety. He wasn't as jumpy as game 1 but it took him some time to settle down.

All I am saying is game 1 and 3 performances can't happen in future rounds if we make it. It's really poor character and not very common to see the Championship winning team have games like we just had.

My eyes are on the prize. The good news is some Championship teams do come together after a shaky first round and become dominate. I am hoping for that at this point.

Seemed like there weren’t many in the second period.
Because we got outplayed. That doesn't mean the opportunities to make them pay wasn't there. We weren't able to break through their pressure effectively. There is no reason why an adjustment can't be made there and once it is it should open up chances for us with odd man rushes.

I’m more upset about the mon-boarding call (and likely no suspension) on Maroon after he hit McCabe from behind.

Yet Clifford got 5, a game, and a suspension for a more questionable board
That was at the very least a penalty. But the scrum everyone is upset about is different. In real time I thought Point was toast, imagine being a player on Tampa and seeing that. If Marner got pasted like that I would expect the same response. They don’t have the benefit of replay to make their decision.

This guy lol. Only thing that matters is the wins.

Leafs please win this in 5.

Well, he’s not wrong. He’s happy with the play and not the result. How is this something to laugh at?

1000%.

It's frustrating that it wasn't called. If McCabe does what Point did acted like he got shot... I think the penalty gets called.

Nothing hockey about that. Kucherov comes in stick up against a guy that was not expecting it. That crap is mid seventies, nothing hockey about that.

While I agree nothing will happen. IMO any additional discipline should be levelled on Stamkos.

Sure Kuch, (who is a POS) grabbed Rielly after the hit, but that's not that unusual in the that situation. What pissed me off was Stamkos skated over and cross checked Rielly while he was down, and moments later clearly instigated the fight with AM by throwing the first two punches.

Neither act was penalized.

Don't feel good about that win at all. The way we played makes me think this team hasn't changed and we have no shot at being a legit cup contender.

That game was exhausting and slowed down, notice how Schenn got better and better as the pace came to his wheelhouse.

Where would we be right now without the trade acquisitions? Acciar scored and was a beast, ROR was amazing, Schenn, McCabe is our workhorse. Without these guys this series is slipping away from us, kudos to Dubas.
It's taken me about 5 years to be able to say that, but he did great this year.

I see game 1 and 3 as completely different.
Game one Sammy was jumpy and or defensive structure was bad.
Game three, Sammy stabilized but our defensive structure was stronger, and Imo that was why the outcome was different.
I fully wish that they would just play the way they did in game two for every single playoff game, but that will not happen.
As long as they keep their defense sound, we will always have a chance to upset the other team. That is important to winning, because dominating every single game at this level and going forward in the playoffs, is just very unlikely

Mo Riles being the first Leafs defenseman to score a playoff OT goal since Kaberle makes my GDT comparison to him all the more apt. Too bad Game 1 went to hell immediately.

Alot to be concerned about, as usual Willy carrying the offense, Tavares and O'Reilly javelin been our best C, Knies looks great. Matthews and Marner need to wake the F-up. Every playoff it's the same crap. Matthews being dumbied by Stamkos is pretty weak, kid really needs to man up and grow a set.

Marchand plays like that, Pastrnak, Bergeron, he list goes on and on. Sometimes your better players need to be greasy.

Can't always be the better team. Look how we took it to them in game 2 where they had no answer for us. I think it's understated around sports that you can't always give balls to the wall effort game in, game out. Human nature, biology, (and the salary cap) prevent that from happening with the amount of games these guys play yearly. How many games have you watched where there is a full 60 mins of so called "good play"? That's right - practically none - for any team. Usually the best teams execute a couple of periods where they are going to go full effort and leave one period to "sit back" a little more. We as fans tend to see it as - "well they've taken their foot off the gas", but when you look around at how other good teams play - typically you're going to see the same sort of patterns.

Are there concerns? Absolutely! But I'd wait until we see how they perform in game 4 and even more so, let's see how much juice Tampa will have in that game. This was one of Tampa's full effort games and they lost it. Losing those types of games, as we all know as Leafs fans, can mean the all the difference in how a 7 game series plays out. The old: "we shoulda had them in game X - that was our best chance but lost"

Leafs bent but did not break. A very good sign for the series if you ask me.

Marner has 8 points in 3 games and Matthews has 5 in 3.
I would say they are dong ok

It was very effective.
Why can’t we do that ?

We do that a lot. I remember in the season we had opposing teams hemmed with exhaustingly long shifts while we made changes to bring fresh legs.. sometimes it led to goals and sometimes they were able to exist the zone

After re-watching the attack on Mo from Kucherov, it sure looks like he jumps into him with a cross check to the head, bloodying his nose. Intent to injure…
What are the chances he faces any disciplinary action?
I’d bet my life savings it never comes up

Points are deceptive.

Go ahead goals at even strength are key.

Full speed back checking is key (looking at you Nylander).

Person brings up that Nylander and other players are carrying the offense and playing better.

Rebuttal of Marner leading the NHL playoffs in scoring. Matthews near the top as well.

Points are deceptive.

🤷
