This talk of him coming back is ridiculous. He was hit in the head with a the force equivalent of a hammer. This isn’t about hockey. This is about his life. He could easily have bleeding in the brain and die within 24 hours. This isn’t hyperbole.

There is no such thing as a over reaction with a potential head injury. You think those paramedics, team doctors and players over reacted? The fact is he did have to go to the hospital. He did have to get a MRI. He will sit another week at least for residual tests. He was extremely lucky.

She had no symptoms except a headache after the head blow until a few hours when her headaches got really bad. If she went right to the hospital Montreal she may still be alive. She died two days later. It happens a lot. Over reacting is a must. If you don’t people can and do die.

He was cleared of everything but a concussion and knee injury when at hospital

Helmets do not fully prevent injuries but can help prevent brain bleeds and lessen the impact of a concussion if helmet is on properly

I am extremely impressed seeing JT hitting the ice so soon, that is great news! With that said, and I don't really want to be a Debbie downer, but I am worried JT won't ever be himself again. When players suffer sever head trauma like this they play more conservative and will never be the same player

Crosby had severe head trauma and was off his skates for months after the Hedman hit. It was 4 or 5 concussions for Lindros before his game morphed. As long as JT doesn't come back too early and get smoked again I am not too concerned but the truly concussed are not skating this early.

Depends on how bad the concussion is , team no doubt cleared JT to start skating likely cause he was able to handle off ice excerise symptoms free first. In Crosby case he has 4 concussions where i can only find info about Tavares having one other concussion in 2010

I would not be shocked if he is back for Game 7 - he wants to be out there.

highly unlikely since according to the nhlpa/nhl concussion return to play there is more steps he would have to go though to play. he no doubt will be at the game and could be in the lockeroom but not cleared to play. he has at stage 4 of return to play there is 6 stages to return to play . anyone can download the nhl concussion info

The fake crowd goes wild and for the final GWG the commentator says “Tavares... pad stop price, Tavares wrap. SCORE!!! John Tavares!!.... and the 17 year drought is OVER!!

The mind can create so many illusions to replace reality it’s actually terrifying at times
