The Captain's presence is so sorely missed on PP1. Not that the PP unit was good, or even average, headed into the playoffs, but in games 1 and 3 it was about as bad of a power play as you'll see an NHL team run. Even in the bumper slot JT is a threat to score, compared to Jumbo, and JT's prowess on the faceoff helps get the puck more cleanly and quickly to the playmakers on the line. With JT missing teams realize that they can funnel the puck towards Thornton on the PP to kill time.

Although Tavares is never the puck carrier for a PP zone entry, the puck is much more dangerous on his stick when he receives the drop pass compared to any of his replacements. Tavares can either shrink the rink down when he slows down play or stretch it out when he finds those open seams before slyly losing coverage and finding open ice.

Get well soon, Cap, as a man and a father first, but know that you will be welcomed with open arms as soon as you're ready.

Will have to go a full week without any concussion symptoms to be cleared for practice, then another week of practicing with no symptoms to be cleared to play. This is the minimum 2 weeks timeline. Nobody on here knows if he is having any of these symptoms, so guessing at his return is exactly that - a guess. Once he returns to practice though, we will be in business.

I'm guessing the knee is just a pulled muscle and shouldn't be a huge factor. It will be good to go before the head is.

My older son and him played together on Marlies for a few years and are still friends .. not as good as they were a few years ago when they were really tight .. but life, women and families change things quite a bit .. lets put in this way I'd wager you a $10,000 cash bet he has zero nausea and headaches since he has been home .. let's hope he recovers from his knee injury soon and gets back on ice in a week or two and has no symptoms after a hard workout ..

reviewing the hit, it looked like he mostly got his bell rung as opposed to a full on concussion. Luckily the knee hit his visor/helmet, which was the reason for the blood on the cheek. at first i was worried about a broken jaw or something like that. lets hope youre right!

Let's put it this way I don't make bets unless they are almost guaranteed win bets .. I hate to part with my hard earned $$$ .. let's hope he recovers from his knee injury

il take your word for it!

Mind me asking who your son is? My parents were at Shawn Mathias' wedding and got to chat with Rich Clune, Matthew Pereault (i know he didnt play for the marlies) and a few other Marlies.

Well that’s good news!

tbh, if he's already on screen time without symptoms, it's a really, really good sign.

Yep. This means worst case scenario hasn't happened - he's not stuck at home with the shades drawn to block the sunlight giving him headaches.

If he's in good spirits like that there's a very good chance he hasn't had any real symptoms at all, which is huge.

He won't know for sure until he tries exerting himself physically. But definitely good signs so far.

Yeah, he seemed to be laughing and in good spirits during the facetime call (only saw a pic in the article) but he was laughing.

I think it's a great sign for sure.

Looks like he isn't dealing with any symptoms. This is truly great news.

Just hope it's the same when he eventually hits the ice.

Don't want to jump the gun or get my hopes up too much, but possible he's back middle of round 2 (assuming leafs put this away with the habs)

I think it's for sure possible the injury looked a lot worse then it was.

If he does come back here's my lines.
