I don’t think Simmonds would stop drilling Chiarot like he did when they had it out in the early season. Something tells me he wouldn’t be stopping until the refs pulled him off.

I hope our guys fill him in every chance they get the rest of this series. He really is a snake in the grass. Hopefully he gets brave enough to go with Simmonds again.

He likes to run star players dirty. Put Matthews on the hurt with cross checks. The kind of pr!ck i like to see getting tuned up. :)

Ya gotta make the other team play with their head on a swivel... the Habs started this crap. chippy play in game one. If that is the game they want to play, we are more than capable to play that game too.

Caufield will play game 3 (my guess) its teem for the inner beast in Marner to come out... I get that Marner is 2 feet taller than Caufield but hey, hockey, it's a contact sport... :)

Good post, Chiarot is a puke.

3;37 DOOF. 3 37. That is a lawsuit, plus. I was a pro athlete, I deal with many of them still now.

I told the forum I was going to bring back greats, and essentially bring back some of their greatness back into o focus. I don't like the term rebranding, just me. But bringing back greats.

Recent example. I and my partner, engaged Borje Salming. Its only been one week, and Borje has been outstanding.

He is so so so saavy, about everything. I just listen to anything he says about hockey.

He said categorically, IF, IF, we beat the Canadiens, we go on to win the CUP.

Any pro athlete, watching 3 37, would say, wow, thanks for absolutely NOTHING.

Get off your horse, its a three legger.

Get some ex Leafs, and some NHLers, gain their confidence, and ask them, what they think about the trainers, faux pas.

I admit, most of them will say nothing . I have explained why that is, previously.
Speaking of concussions....

I'm actually wondering if Tavares and his family decide to retire early because of this?
Extremely doubtful. The character that he is and this injury looked way worse than it was luckily.
If there were fractures in his vertebrae I could see the possibility of retirement, but I would not be surprised if he came back for the playoffs if we go deep.

If it was a neck or spinal injury I could see it being contemplated. Don’t think he’ll give up a career with another decade in it for a concussion. He certainly won’t, nor shouldn’t, rush to come back from it unless 100%, however.

I think so, thats 3 weeks or so, and is normally a good concussion timeline.
I'm thinking 2 weeks sire. It also has it written on like dubas etc already stated: Minimum of 2 weeks out. This is getting very interesting, and since he is our beautiful captain, he might want to come back real soon. He is that hard and showing example on every one. He also doesn't want to miss all of our WINNING, so don't be surprised if our captain is back 2 weeks from now. This is so hard sire!

Retirement isn’t good enough. He needs to be frozen cryogenically and thawed when future generations can use their advanced science to make sure he is okay.
They should harvest his DNA and implant it so we can clone a new Tavares that will be ready 18 years from now

That will depend on how he recovers. It's not as bad as initially it looked. I mean Toews I remember that. He came back to have a lot of good years

Same with Havlat and Kevin Stevens. Stevens got it bad though and that was long time ago before we took concussions seriously

Heck Hossa kept coming back years after years

The incident was scary and looked really bad, but it sounds like he only suffered a mild knee injury and a concussion of unknown severity. Concussions are obviously highly variable in terms of recovery timeframes but most people fully recover within a few weeks.

I think there's definitely a chance we can expect to see him later in the playoffs if we make a deep run and certainly by training camp next year. This talk of a months-long layoff or even retirement seems extreme. Tavares is a warrior. He'll be back before too long!

Tavares miracle comeback in round 3.

Storybook.

I can see it. I won't pretend (well, maybe a little) to be an expert on concussions or knockouts. But being a lifelong MMA fan and seeing people get badly KO'd and literally fighting another man 6 months later is not uncommon. What the timeline is between day 0 and month 6, I don't know. And it does seem like there's a huge degree of variance from person to person, concussion to concussion.

Professional athletes are absolute monsters. Don't underestimate Johnny. Health comes first though; brain injuries are really scary so I hope he's okay. None of us want him to be damaged goods when he retires.

Reading thru this thread, I am getting the impression that some fans almost hope (hope's the wrong word, but close) that JT's injury is worse than it actually is. Not me. I hope and expect since was cleared of all medical concerns save concussion that he's back ASAP.

I don't think there hoping its worse, I think they are more concerned with our Captains safety and long term health.

I am of the thinking to not rush him back, but if we make it far enough and he gets cleared and feels ready to go and wants to play, then its his choice.

I think if he's done for playoffs I'd give him next regular season off to rest and sign someone or 2 players to big 1 year deals with the 11 million on LTIR and then bring him back for playoffs like Tampa did with Kuch. If its that bad then it wouldn't hurt to give him the Crosby treatment.

It's unfortunate; but, I hope this awakens people to the impact he has had on the success of the team. It's the same thing we had seen when Nylander was out. For the success Marner+Matthews drives, it's always been necessary to have the secondary threat of Nylander+Tavares. Complimented with high work ethic players, who can pot it in as well. It's harder for teams to shutdown multiple threats and no player is going to consistently produce every single game. You need the team as a whole to contribute. Without that second line threat, the first line would be boxed out every night.
