Please don't give up. We need you to help keep Florida in the lottery.

Dmitry Orlov is a beast every time I watch the Caps. I can't imagine y'all would let him go, no?
The Caps want to keep him but evidently they're having issues working out an extension and are hung up on term. If the Caps continue to fade and they don't have an extension agreed to at least in principle by the trade deadline then it'd be malpractice not to trade him. He'd be the best rental defenseman on the market and with retention he'd be really cheap.
Yes please for Hathaway to Broadway.

Perfect comp piece.
Seeing Hathaway in a Rangers sweater would make me want to vomit but if the price is right and they're not going to re-sign him then let's see your offer!

Hathaway should have a lot of suitors. Everyone hates him so naturally he will be someone every playoff team wants to add to their 4th line. Low cap hit too for those out of room

Two weeks until the deadline and currently in a playoff spot.

I don’t see them as sellers.
They have four regulation wins in their last eighteen games; two of those were against Columbus, one against Arizona, and one against Boston (somehow). They are hanging on for dear life and trending in the wrong direction due primarily to injuries and now Ovi’s indefinite absence. They linked into the ASG break and in seven calendar days they’ve played Boston, San Jose, Carolina, and Florida and will play Carolina again on Saturday. They’ve gone 1-3-0 in those four games. It’s unrealistic to think they’re going to hold on to their spot. Other teams are healthier and playing better.

What's Wilson's injury status? Is he likely to play this year? I appreciate he isn't a UFA, but if you are going to start a rebuild....

Toronto fan, would be interested in Wilson and Hathaway.

Wilson is banged up again, not sure when he plays next. I also think they want him
To stay with the rebuild.

Hathaway seems to have a lot of interest, which is great.

He’s played in 8 games all season but has begun skating again. I don’t think it makes sense to trade Wilson. His absence is a big reason the Caps are struggling but his injuries this year would also diminish his value in a trade right now. Wilson is not a player the Caps should sell low on or except anything less than full asking price but it’s understandable if teams would be hesitant to pay that price for a guy who has played 8 games since April.

I get why you'd want to keep Wilson... but he's going to be 29 soon, plays a style that doesn't normally lead to a career into your late thirties... any rebuild is going to take 3-5 years, and he's not going to be very effective then. Personally, anyone over 25 should be on the table in a rebuild.

If a team was confident he'd be back to being "Wilson" this year, I don't see any reason why they'd discount the price. The big question is... will he be healthy? But Wilson and Hathaway would pretty much address the issues with the Leafs, IMO. Wilson is also from Toronto, which he may find attractive.

This is true but Wilson is frequently mentioned as a future captain. He’s beloved in DC by the fans, management, and his teammates. Fans of other teams hate him and I understand why but he’s pretty much the heartbeat of the Caps outside of Ovechkin.

I do agree its an interesting scenario to see play out. He’s going to be 30 when he signs his next contract and power forwards don’t age gracefully.

Rangers need to #OverpayforHathaway and reunite him with his Phillips Andover buddy Chris Kreider.
After Hathaway's game last Saturday on national TV against the Bruins, I figured his value increased especially with eastern teams that see their playoffs having to go through Boston.

I 'm expecting a 2nd and 3rd round pick for him in general, but trading him within division would up the price a bit. I spitballed the idea a few days ago of trading Hathaway to the Rangers for the aforementioned 2nd and 3rd round picks but also since it's within division Rangers include Kravtsov and the Capitals add Mantha.

So Hathaway and Mantha to NYR for Kravtsov, 2nd and 3rd round pick. Realizing that this may not necessarily work with the cap, Capitals sweeten it by eating some of Mantha's salary.

Coming out of the All Star break, I felt the Capitals performance in their first five games ending with the Stadium Series against the Hurricanes would serve as a direction finder for the team. I believed that they would have had to earn at least five points in those five games (Boston, San Jose, Florida, Carolina twice). Well I was surprised with their performance against the Bruins but since then they have lost three games and I'm not optimistic about the Stadium Series game, hence no five points. Additionally they play the Red Wings on Tuesday, and the Wings are trending in the right direction while the Caps are not. I'll look to see their GM starting to move out pieces after the Red Wings game if they continue this losing streak, and they have quite a few pieces that are all pending UFAs:
Eller
Johansson
Sheary
Hathaway
Aube-Kubel
Orlov
Jensen
van Riemsdyk
Gustafsson
Irwin

This team is cooked, it’s over. Here’s what we have:

Orlov
Jensen
TVR
Eller
Hathaway

Also, someone please take Anthony Mantha. I just don’t think I can watch him play hockey any longer.
Eller sure is interesting. Big, defensive 3C that PKs.

What’s the ask on him?
