Who is Ethen Frank?
What do you think the Caps do with their UFA defencemen? Try to keep all/some / none ? Which ones would be priority ?

Edit - Wow Frank looks like a keeper.
Orlov is probably priority, if not then replacing him is important. Fehervary and Alexeyev need to be re-upped to (RFAs) I personally would love to keep van Riemsdyk on the 3rd pair. Jensen I wouldn't mind returning. But also at the same time they should probably upgrade one of their top six. Gustafsson will probably get a payday and not be kept (he's offensively great but the Caps need an offensive capable d-man who can also be trusted in all scenarios not named Carlson as he shits the bed in the playoffs)

The Capitals lineup is a mess that is quite literally above my paygrade to solve (get it cause it's not my job to figure out as I sit from an armchair and watch the games). But also it's a mess that gives me a headache to even think about. They need someone who can work hard and score regularly not named Ovechkin, but they have a lot of top sixers who just aren't putting the puck in the net as often they should, look slow, or are basically absent from the ice when they are on it. They're loaded with middle 6ers when they need someone who can be a bonafide consistent top 3 6 that's not old, lazy, or named Ovi. The most obvious ways to improve this roster is replace Mantha with someone young who can put the puck in the net and actually shows up every night, and do idek what with this group of defenseman.

If there is any way the Leafs could eke out more cap space, they should inquire on Orlov to round out the blueline.

Rielly - Orlov
Brodie - Holl
Giordano - Liljegren/Timmins
Sandin

They just decided to load up and go all in. They'll need all the help they can get to squeak past Tampa and Boston.
If Orlov is traded, he will cost a 1st + good d-man prospect + a player on a decent contract(to reduce the cap hit going to the receiving team). Orlov would be the top d-man for trade on the list(better than Chykrun, but not as offensively talented as Karlsson). Arguably he's a top pairing d-man that can play in all situations(PP included but the Caps stupid PP coach doesn't use his talents in that regard).

Well it's a well shared opinion that it's a miracle (curse is more accurate) coach Blaine Forsythe still has a job. This year though they tend to use Carlson/Gustafsson more than Orly on the PP, which is fine.

Yeah, Forsythe is the worst PP coach in the league. Promoted from video coach by Oates, and he's survived like a cockroach, based on the talent of the players. He's so terrible, 0 creativity.

After Hathaway's game last Saturday on national TV against the Bruins, I figured his value increased especially with eastern teams that see their playoffs having to go through Boston.

I 'm expecting a 2nd and 3rd round pick for him in general, but trading him within division would up the price a bit. I spitballed the idea a few days ago of trading Hathaway to the Rangers for the aforementioned 2nd and 3rd round picks but also since it's within division Rangers include Kravtsov and the Capitals add Mantha.

So Hathaway and Mantha to NYR for Kravtsov, 2nd and 3rd round pick. Realizing that this may not necessarily work with the cap, Capitals sweeten it by eating some of Mantha's salary.
I truly appreciate that you said Hathaway costs a 2nd and 3rd, but you will kindly give them a cap dump in Mantha for the low cost of Kravstov! That would be a real generous move by the Caps GM

Would want Eller for the Leafs 3rd line with Jarnkrok and ROR. Complete that shutdown line.

If Wilson could be acquired without giving up Knies that would be another option.

I'd be interested in Lars Eller for the Jets. He's such a responsible centre, good on the draw.

Maybe spread out the scoring where the Jets could run

Connor-Dubois-Appleton
Perfetti-Scheifele-Wheeler
Ehlers-Eller-Stenlund
Barron-Lowry-Maenalanen/Kuhlman
