After seeing what Brock Nelson looks like I’m out on him. No thx.
Even if that's true, which I'm not sure it is, he would not be a better fit at 1c for this teammarco rossi was available all summer btw
Who's chart is this? Eller's???xgpm is very different that nst xgf% (lol)

definitely a player we badly need to pay a lot for and keep in the lineup!!
Absolutely no need to include McMichael in a McCann package. 1st+prospect should be enough to get it doneCMM + 1st/2nd + B prospect might not be a bad package for a McCann deal.
So 1st + who?Even if that's true, which I'm not sure it is, he would not be a better fit at 1c for this team
Strome is what he is -- a low end 1c or high end 2c that can give you a consistent 70 points even though he doesn't crush his matchups. That's a very useful player at $5M. He also has the unique ability to transform Ovi from being unplayable at 5v5 to just below average.

1st+2nd+Lapierre.So 1st + who?
1 time 40g guy, more regularly a 20g guy, but still in the 60-70 point range. But if he’s playing 3c are we getting that return?
I’d rather a top-6 impact guy to push a body down to the 3rd.

I didn’t join that debate but I don’t think there’s any room for CMM if they acquire McCann. Seems like even the best possible version of what CMM could be isn’t what McCann already is.
But if he’s playing 3c are we getting that return? No good at the face off dot either.
Screw it, let's get McCann, Bjorkstrand, Tanev , and hell Gourde while we're at it...The Washington Krakens. All have been rumored available and some tied to us.Now that's a guy I can see the Caps digging.
McCann would be a great addition. He's had a bit of a down year but overall he's produced like a first liner on some pretty poor Seattle teams.
How do we know McCann isn't Mangiapane?
No one in the NHL ever gets bid up. Even if he does, keep adding on futures instead of a piece that can help us win this year like McMichael.I don't know. He's got 2 more years at a really good number and can play both positions in a pinch. I think he gets bid up, and I don't know how long Seattle's going to keep moving impact guys for futures, so it might take a roster guy or fully-cooked/highly-regarded prospect.

McCann has 2yrs left after this one, at 5m. You think scrubs will “whet their whistle”?? No chance dude.Even if that's true, which I'm not sure it is, he would not be a better fit at 1c for this team

I would put each of the newbie/rookies (I consider Miro a rookie as he hasn't even played 1/2 an NHL season yet) with 2 other vets in the top 9 and roll them out equally. 3 rookies in the same line would be a disaster at the NHL level. Leonard needs to play wing to start out as he hasn't played center in a few years and it's a tough ask of a rookie to transition from wing to center as a pro.For next year if really hope we get to try:
Ovi -Strome-Wilson
McMichael-PLD-Protas
Cristall - Leonard - Miroshnichenko
Duhaime - Dowd - Raddysh
Could shift CMM and Leonard back and forth depending on how Leonard adjusts to C (I have a feeling he might take to being a C with his tenacity).
With LittlePro not far behind
As others have noted maybe where this could be upgraded is 1C. Maybe Strome + Lappy + AA + 2015 1st for a soon to be Elete 1 C with term over the summer. Not sure who, any thoughts on who?
Then go big FA shopping when/if Ovi retires.
I think if CMM or similar is involved they probably just don't need to do it. Already a top club, let him get another season of playoffs in and find new warts.McCann has 2yrs left after this one, at 5m. You think scrubs will “whet their whistle”?? No chance dude.
CMM or someone similar would have to be in to play.
Come on man
For that guy? Really? Sure they’d want him….but….might be the 1st + AC…..wonder who fans would part with then….McCann has 2yrs left after this one, at 5m. You think scrubs will “whet their whistle”?? No chance dude.

I mean I think it does in the sense that you squeeze a 3rd into a 2nd or get another 4th thrown into the deal but this mythical "bidding war" for TDL acquisitions just never happens.Completely agree. Up to a point, of course, but yeah, totally.
I'd be shocked if that were true. Players *definitely* get bid up in free agency. There's at least a handful of overpays every year, and I doubt that *always* happens because a GM was a dipshit.
Harder to suss out in trades because we're not privy to how deals go down, but you really don't think that GMs don't pit offers against one another? Can't imagine it doesn't happen with a decent frequency.
What McMichael-esque guys have been moved in a deal for a better player recently? Chytil in the Miller package, Vilardi in the PLD package, Geekie in the Sergachev deal? All of those upgrades were for players at least one tier above what McCann is currently.McCann has 2yrs left after this one, at 5m. You think scrubs will “whet their whistle”?? No chance dude.

Protas….just not a center….just like CMM.I would put each of the newbie/rookies (I consider Miro a rookie as he hasn't even played 1/2 an NHL season yet) with 2 other vets in the top 9 and roll them out equally. 3 rookies in the same line would be a disaster at the NHL level. Ovi - Strome - Leonard
McMichael - PLD - Cristall
Miroshnichenko - Protas - Wilson
Milano - Frank - Duhaime
This lineup has all the rookies playing their natural positions and with skillsets that I think best compliment the other two players on their lines. 4th line is made up of all the players we currently have signed for next year.
For this year I'm on the trade for Boeser/Bjorkstand camp, as neither of them would require parting with a current roster player.
I agree with you on this, which is why there's zero chance more than two of Lappy/Miro/Leonard/Cristall are on the NHL roster at the same time next year.I would put each of the newbie/rookies (I consider Miro a rookie as he hasn't even played 1/2 an NHL season yet) with 2 other vets in the top 9 and roll them out equally. 3 rookies in the same line would be a disaster at the NHL level.
Cannot stress enough how much I agree with this one too. Leonard is not a center.Leonard needs to play wing to start out as he hasn't played center in a few years and it's a tough ask of a rookie to transition from wing to center as a pro.
This is just the idealized line up of course. I doubt all 3 of the rookies make the opening night roster and we don't know if dowd will be re-signed/who else will be signed or traded in the summer.Protas….just not a center….just like CMM.
That second line would get wrecked. Frank at 4c?
So many issues with this lineup for me. Pass the sativa…
Yep, just too many youngsters….this is why I see someone we like getting dealt (eventually). This is just the idealized line up of course. I doubt all 3 of the rookies make the opening night roster and we don't know if dowd will be re-signed/who else will be signed in the summer.
Let me be — hopefully — clear.I think if CMM or similar is involved they probably just don't need to do it. Already a top club, let him get another season of playoffs in and find new warts.
If there's one thing I really do see and believe from CMM (after wondering if he was trade bait a year ago to be fair) it's always been that he takes a few passes in the league he's in to figure out how to be good but he has always figured out how to be very good.
best case it's a win-win where they get a cup out of it but are we really rolling those dice on McCann? Like is he tipping that scale in a way McMichael couldn't? Because these are the playoffs we're talking about and if DSP can do it... we still don't know who finds that level. Last year was okay but kind of a wash because they were gassed down the stretch and not expected to do shit, but now those guys have seen the playoffs.
I just have a very hard time punting CMM, who has made serious strides and become a more threatening player in the offseason in most of his "adult" hockey career because he might not do some of the stuff you want from a fully cooked guy.
I get that you don't like him now but are you really telling me he's done cooking? Again this is coming from somebody who probably would have made some of these trades last year, but I see a guy working hard to improve himself and seeing results. His IQ has always been his best asset, so why stop now?
I don’t want him. McCann. But no team is getting the Krakens leading scorer, without giving up a roster player, IMO. Or a LOT of soon to hit futures. For that guy? Really? Sure they’d want him….but….might be the 1st + AC…..wonder who fans would part with then….
Again, I do not want McCann.I mean I think it does in the sense that you squeeze a 3rd into a 2nd or get another 4th thrown into the deal but this mythical "bidding war" for TDL acquisitions just never happens.
