Couple crazy ideas for lines:

* Move Duhaime up to 1LW (bring up Rybinski for 4LW)
* Frank up to play 3RW - Mangi to 1lW
* Rybinski up to play 4LW - Duhaime to 3RW - Mangi to 1LW
* Of course the Miro to take OV spot sounds fun but this is NHL and I’m not sure Miro (or Caps) are ready for that.
* Could also bring up Miro and play him at 3RW or even on 4th and move up Duhaime. I think this is more likely if they call up Miro.
Revisiting my crazy ideas for lines… Think Miro is the right callup but he’ll play of 3rd or 4th line. Mangi is probably the first option at 1LW. Despite a lot of you not liking my Duhaime idea I think he could play there as energy player for a game or three.

Protas and Strome are both good playmakers so whomever is there needs to get some goals.

Without OV, you can also make McMichael-PLD-Wilson the first line.

Diet Ovie lol

The Ovechkin Era PP should be only for when Ovechkin is on the ice. Everyone knows it's based on Ovie's one-timer. If you don't have someone with a HOF one-timer, then don't run it like that.

Stamkos could pull it off when in his prime at TB. I doubt anyone else on this Caps team can.

Time for some "new wrinkles" in the PP.

Duhaime on the first line brings back bad memories of Oates sticking Ovie with Beagle and Crabb. Not really fair to Duhaime cause he's a much better player than Joey Crabb, but that's where my mind goes.

any idea what we might be getting for lines looking at todays practice?

sounds like some lines will be shuffled rather than just inserting Miro there automatically

Carberry is a smart guy, he knows he need to get it out of Miro, and everyone else's head that he has to replace Ovi, because nobody can replace Ovi. Lower the expectations to realistic for Miro and hope for the best.

Play with Strome and Protas is where he should be, he is a playmaker and needs to be around that skill.

I would honestly prefer Miro to swap in for Ovi 1:1 (except maybe not 2min of PP time) at first so that Vrana-Eller-Mangy can really gel and we see what we have there. I'm worried Vrana-Eller-Miro might flail, especially defensively.

I don’t understand who is going to shoot the puck on a line of Mangi, Strome and Protas. That line makes zero sense to me.
I don't really agree with that. Strome and Mangi have demonstrated scoring ability at an NHL level before, and Protas has potential, too.

It's not a top line anymore, but It's a good 2nd line.

Mangiapane scored 35 goals for Calgary in 2021-22. That season was clearly an outlier for him, but he's not a slouch in terms of putting pucks on net.
And Strome scored 27 last year, and he's on pace for 27 again this year. Hell, Protas is on pace for 32. Both should see their shooting percentages drop a bit, but I think that line should be alright while Ovie's out.

Based on Carbery's comments today, I assume Carbs told Lappy to prepare himself to play wing in case of an injury. It would then be in very bad form to not let Lappy have a shot at wing if he was told to prepare for that opportunity.

Caps PR just released minutes ago. OV has a fracture to his left fibula and is anticipated to miss 4 - 6 weeks. So some of you that questioned Kypreos insider report, should respect him a little more. Kypreos had said he talked to someone with the team that said OV had a lower leg fracture, but at the time they weren't fully sure till the swelling goes down.
