Hot take.

Asssuming NJ is healthy, they take first.

One more year until Igor contract starts to change things, Rangers in second.

Caps take third.

I love our facelift and future. My only knock on BMac was not shitcannng Laviolette.

If they did, they totally failed and finished 3rd worst. Another example of how stupid tanking is.
dude, they absolutely tanked. and they should have had 2 legit shots at the 1OA but the league changed the rules to help Mario. thank God they won the lottery and got Ovie, but let's not kid ourselves... the teams they were icing in the early 2000s were barely AHL grade.

“tanking” (icing out a poor team due to whatever circumstances may be) most definitely works if you do it right. if you’re the worst team in the league you’re guaranteed a top 3 pick, and if you can’t hit on top 3 picks (or hell, even a string of top 10-5 picks really) then its more of a your scouting/development stinks problem than anything else.

tired of this site reloading

it’s only a matter of time till they lose everyone to Reddit at this point which is disappointing.

The reloading is the worst and the ads at times can be super frustrating

It's $12 a year to make it go away.

$12 too much haha. Pay to use models don’t work well on the internet.

It will be like when I was younger and seen people still posting on ESPN message boards and wondered what they were thinking as it was a terrible interface. We will be the ESPN message boards users eventually.

Are you kidding me? The year we drafted Ovi we sold the entire team at the deadline and we were playing Matthew Yeatz in net at the end of the season and iced a team with guys like Josef Boumedienne, Joel Kwiatkowski, Jason Doug, Rick Berry and JeanLuc GrandPierre playing on D. That's the literal definition of tanking.
Don't forget Frankenstein's monster, Mathieu Biron, and Ivan Majeský.

Any reason to be concerned that this McGroarty situation is a red flag on the player?
Who knows but I don’t think the Caps end up with him so I don’t think it will be an issue.

From what I understood he thought he was NHL ready last year and the Jets disagreed.

Don’t forget Yonkman and Clymer. So many dudes got to play in the show because the Caps were on a mission to tank. McPhee was doing charity work.

There were like 5 or 6 dudes on that 03-04 team that saw their first and only NHL action that season with us.

by all accounts 'Peg wouldn't guarantee him a shot next year and he wants to play
Friedman talked about his situation in their podcast last week. McGoraty wanted to sign with the Jets at the end of the year and be given playing time so he could burn a year off his ELC. Winnipeg was not in the position to do that as their playoff spot wasn’t set in stone and they could leapfrog some teams for home ice. That is what apparently pissed him off.

Next CBA and NCAA player rights should get interesting. Especially as we see the increase in NIL money and “amateur” players getting paid to play college hockey.

There’s never going to be a ton of NIL money for hockey players IMO…it’s embarrassingly low right now.

Normally it would give me pause but reports are that this is a relationship issue and a concern from McGroarty about Winnipeg's treatment of their prospects, and seemingly for good reason They dicked Perfetti around a bit and then healthy scratched him a fair amount and they've kept Heinola (2019 first round pick) in the AHL because of his waiver-exemption status.

It sounds like McGroarty wants assurances he can play in the NHL now, or have a path to the NHL very quickly. Winnipeg wants him to cook in the AHL, and because of Winnipeg's treatment of their recent top picks, the McGroarty camp doesn't trust that Winnipeg will get him his chance any time soon.
