There was another article that had this spelled out more clearly but I can’t for the life of me find it.

If that article revealed the statistical wizardry you think it does, it wouldn't be hard to find. It'd be front and center on every hockey site on the planet.

Who would you guys rather have on our 4th line next to Dowd? AJF or NAK? Pros and Cons to both? Posing the question bc NAK probably wouldn’t have been claimed if AJF was kept on the team instead of sent to waivers.
Beck, fack NAK. Worthless waiver fodder who shouldn't see the lineup unless we're deep with injuries.

Kuzy should return to Traktor now by letting the Caps terminate the contract. Everybody wins. :D

Hell no. If he leaves for Russia, we can't stop him, but we keep his fkg rights.

The closer we get to a new season, the more confident im with giving Kuzy a chance to rebound.

Last year was just terrible all around. Kuzy had PPG in 21/22. Kuzy rebounding has a lot more potential than going for some another reclamation guy who's ceiling is somewhat lower than Kuz.

I agree others with Mantha, i hope he rebounds too but dont want us committing long term with him even if he does. He just doesnt feel like a guy who wants to be here "for the right reasons".

I think it's deserved, though a bit weird for Patrick to want to take a step back but end up with another title. No idea how good Chris Patrick is, wonder how much of a nepo baby thing it is.

The good:

- Extension for BMac.
- Smaller role for Dick.

The (perhaps) bad:

- Chris Patrick talk. It's smart to have younger potential candidate in the organisation already but the talk of him being BMac's successor is stupid. When it's the time you don't even know who is going to be available. You pick the best candidate, whoever it is when it's time. Chris obviously has some advantage because he is familiar with the organisation to begin with but hopefully he doesn't get the job just because he's the son of former VP. GM is an incredibly important job and poor GM can set your franchise back half a decade.

Have not won a playoff round since 2018. Keep firing coaches. Give the GM a promotion. Yep, makes sense.

Only one coach was fired (Reirden) since GMBM took over.

Trotz did not return, likely due to Ted interfering in that process. Laviolette was a good hire on paper as a proven veteran coach, but he wasn’t what the Caps needed.

So far, hiring Carbery looks very promising. GMBM also mostly cleaned up the goaltending situation after Holtby’s sudden decline in 2019. Prospect pool looks good for a team that traded so many draft picks. AHL affiliate just won the Calder Cup.

Things could be worse IMO.

Or, in reality land. What GM isn't getting an extension with numbers like this...?

Team had one awful year and suddenly all the pitch forks are out.

Suddenly? I've had concerns about GMBM for a long time. He has been a mixed bag. I have actually commended him for not making any big moves this offseason for the sake of making moves. I just find it rather odd that he gets promoted when the franchise has not won a playoff series since 2018. Winning in the playoffs is the ultimate goa,l yes? Im not calling for him to be fired. But a promotion?

Dick is getting up there in age (77)…it’s probably overdue…..LOL’ing at the extension….some must be furious here. Who will be the new GM I wonder (eventually)?

The crazy thing about Dick Patrick being 77 is that it feels like he's been part of the Caps for 63 years. :naughty:

I must've missed the part where GM's win Cups all by themselves.
