What is this stuff about petey and the sedins? Is it from a reliable source or is it nonsense? It seems like the media are pissed at petey at the moment.

In the 7 years that Petey has been playing for our team, has anyone heard him criticize a team mate, or a coach, or the medical team, either behind the scenes, or on the record?

Management and coach Tocchet have aired their criticisms of EP40's play in public, repeatedly. Our local media, and a particular trog in Edmonton, fuel the Petey fires because it's good for their business, especially now that Miller has flown the coop.

EP40 was asked the infamous question by Canucks' IMAC, and he gave an honest answer, and it was ........a criticism of the media.

EP40 has committed a crime, and he will pay for it. (Hinting at **** with the Sedins is just the start).

And of course a bunch of people lost their minds. No wonder the media gets away with being so brutal when people are eating this rubbish up.

Give me a realistic template then?

I would use the assets/cap space from Boeser in trades/ufa signings along with maybe our own picks to get a good top 6 forward or two. Not easy but that's the goal. This plan would be risky but it's really not hard to envision a couple decent ufa signings outscoring Boeser collectively next year either. They could try signing two $5 mil players to replace his production.

Interestingly enough I now find myself thinking about what Boeser would do on another team. Depends on the team. On a good one he could soar but on an average one he might just be pedestrian. Wide range of possibilities.

This market has been *astonishingly* soft on Pettersson relative to his extended terrible performance and massive salary. Both from a media and fan perspective.

If we had signed Pettersson as a UFA in 2023 and he had delivered the exact same level of play, it would be a bloodbath. Everyone has handled him with kid gloves and done nothing but make excuses for him.

But then he has a tantrum when he gets asked a soft question about his terrible production and certain fans are like 'oh, it's a witch hunt!'. Give me a break.

It seems more like people here are having a tantrum about a simple response to a question. No wonder a good number of posters rev themselves into a frenzy everyday if they're making issues out of nothing like this. And what is this soft media people keep mentioning ... that must be copied from the radio or somewhere as it's getting parroted quite a bit in this thread?

I am grumpy from trying to deal with some unemployment fallout, including the Ministry trying to wrangle a daycare subsidiary that we previously enjoyed but are apparently not entitled to while I search for work. Generally, I don't consider the Vancouver Canucks media to be loyal. Most of the time they seem so desperate for views that they will jump on any rumor, fabricate, twist it, no matter how damaging it is to the team and players they cover and claim to support. Pettersson shouldn't have said that to media who is so desperate for scraps. If I was him with all the negative reports he's been subject to, I would be annoyed too.

No worries, I hope all is well.

Even if we have differing on the Petey situation, it's just sports/entertainment for normal folk and not as important as a lot of other stuff. Of course I'd be planning the parade with everyone else if he drops 5 pt in a game but I'll settle for discussing for fun why he isn't doing so in the meantime.

I know it’s reactionary but that Pettersson / Sedins nugget is like a Jim Benning Sbisa / Dorsett day after the playoffs thing to me.

I didn’t really care what they did, in fact I leaned towards their better path being to just hope he regains form and live with the downside risk, but man…

The Sedins. They are the best. How.
