Because they’re all obsessed with not spending money lol
Again with more bs. There’s a few posters who want to look at saving the cap space for next offseason which could be risky. I would definitely want to spend close to the cap if possible but I don’t think adding one player at $10 million + helps this team. I’d rather they add 2 impact players (if possible). A lot of their offseason is going to depend on Oshie’s potential LTIR retirement and if they can convince Leonard to sign. Hopefully both decisions come soon we than later

Also any potential moves - hypothetically if any of DK, Dowd, or Jensen move for futures at the draft there is more July 1 flexibility.

That just isn’t true at all. Oshie’s St. Louis contract was 6.96% of the cap. His extension in Washington was 7.67% of the cap. Both are according to CapFriendly.

If Reinhart makes $10 million plus like anticipated he’s going to be at around 11% of the anticipated salary cap of $87.7 million.

That's why I said developing into a better offensive player taken into account. I have him at 9.5 million, but at ~10.5-11% of the cap for a guy with 82, 67 and 94 points (57 goals) in his last 3 seasons vs who Oshie was leading to his last contract at 7.67%, while largely being the same type of player with the same style, strengths and weaknesses, its basically the same in terms of value per cap dollar.

No way can CMM play 1c (well enough) nor should Strome not get the 1C spot in favor of him….come on. Dude is coming off back to back career years at 27, and we want to screw that up and move him to wing? I want to see him hit 30g and 70 points next year with a nice talented winger addition.

Strome 1
Lappy 2
CMM 3

Lappy/CMM interchangeable, that’s just how I see it playing out.

Bring in one top-6 wing and let the others fight it out on wing….

Ovi - Strome - Incoming
Protas - Lappy - Wilson
Milano - CMM - Miro
Beck - Dowd - incoming

This is assuming no Leonard and a UFA or trade add to the top line.

This is what they should do, though ideally have Protas on the 3rd line with CMM and find someone better than Milano to put on the 2nd.

If Mantha can't find a good contract wouldn't mind bringing him back at a discounted 2x2.5 or something, Protas-McMichael-Mantha worked incredibly well. Cycle Miro, Wilson and Leonard through through the other 3 spots throughout the season.

But you are t taking into account that A) this season is an outlier B) He’s on a much better team and C) he probably doesn’t hit 27 PP goals again, especially here.

And without looking it up I’d assume his shooting percentage is outrageous.

You would be correct - it was 24.5%. Highest in the NHL, 2nd highest in the NHL over the last 10 years (min 50 games), 5.3 points above his next best season and 8.9 points above his career average. If he shot the same percentage as his next best season (which itself ranks 69th out of 5095 in the list I linked above), he'd have had 12 fewer goals. If he shot his career average he'd have 21 fewer goals.

Either he's solved NHL goalies in a way no other player ever has, or he's gonna regress hard.

I might not have read every post in the thread, but I'm pretty sure everyone acknowledges it's an outlier and he's a 30 goal guy.

With how much everyone loves Oshie and thinks he's a GOAT acquisition that vaults GMBM into an upper eschelon of GMs almost all on its own I'm surprised how little people care for Reinhart. He's essentially a more offensively capable version of Oshie playstyle wise, down to the bumper PP abilities, defensive awareness, cerebral hustle style vs being a speed demon, faceoff ability/ability to play center in a pinch and emerging clutch reputation.
I'd love to add him, I just think he's either going to stay in Fla at a discount, or go for huge money in UFA. Either way I don't see him ending up here, as much as I would love to have him.

61 is Steve Oleksy, unsure who 9 is yet.

Here's a close-up... it might be Mike Green?

Don't be mad at me HF ppl: This event took place a 5 min walk from my house. My rationale for not going: Paying $20 for hockey dudes playing another sport and I would see them at the bier garten across the street anyway...
