3rd and 4th in the upper are soccer players. Then Ovi's old friend basketball player, then Ovi and another hockey player with his son. Other 3 guys maybe are random. Maybe not, dont know. Summer in Turkey, many are there.
Russians do like to spend summers in Turkey, don’t they. I went to Kusadasi many many years ago — and there were Russians partying everywhere. Was fun!!

3rd from the left looks familiar….what are the two soccer player’s names?

And for those who were hoping to see a rededicated Ovechkin, getting his aging body into top shape….I think we can forget that lol…..(there’s actually time, he could do a lot in 8 weeks, so we’ll see).

Im not sure where I saw it. I think Sammi posted it. But Ovie was talking about his diet and offseason training.
Pretty much said he eats what he wants when he wants. And doesnt train in the offseason, Training camp is the only time hes on a diet and working to get in shape.

I got lambasted earlier this year for pointing out Ovi hasn't ever really cared, or prepared, about his fitness like a modern athlete should. He could have probably been so far past where he's currently at, physically, if he'd taken it serious during his career.

Just imagine how much more dominant he could have been if he'd done so.

I think it was fine back when he "played heavy" in that he was skating hard and laying big hits.

He's not doing that as much anymore...not by a longshot...so he's going to find that 40yrs old is not the same as 30 or even 35.

He's going to have to lighten the load and train better to do many things he took for granted.

I dunno man, the heavy game may have just been a byproduct of him never taking his diet serious and always using training camp to get into shape. Outside of maybe the Trotz era, I don't know if the team was really a "heavy" team in that regard. On top of that, the speed and agility difference from like 2010 and before to 2012 and onward was pretty drastic to my eye and that's for someone who we've already established didn't have or take any massive injuries.

I'm not saying he was bad obviously, but if he'd taken his physical health even half as serious as Crosby or Mackinnon? I can't imagine how much better he'd be.

I largely agree with you on his overall dedication to fitness, but @goon is also right, in that it luckily played right into the later version of the Caps that had that heavy game team identity that the coaches talked about a lot.

He’s not in that punishing role any more, so you would think someone close who has his ear, would be like “dude, it’s not too late to bust your ass for your last few years….why not try to regain the explosiveness that you had once” (then I’d play his 2008 highlights)….

Where does it say he doesn't train?

the article even says "He works with Pavel Burlachenko in the offseason for training".

Yeah. He was skating and hitting and his body weight was probably more like protective insulation than a hindrance because he moved like a freak, it was a very "if it ain't broke" mentality and I kind of get it. They say you lose a lot of mass over a season like the NHL's so I can see that working when you're also a talented monster.

Looking at the season he just had, I did hope he would have used this as the wake up call and really go militant for a year or two and just see what it would do for him. I think his finish convinced him he wouldn't have to but man, it would be nice to just see if he could get a step back. I bet a wiry Ovechkin is still wicked strong.
