92 pts could very well be the Magic Number to get in

records needed for 92: (2 teams below to qualify for M3 and WC2)
WSH 8-6-1
PHI 8-6-0
DET 9-5-0
NYI 9-5-1
BUF 10-2-1
PIT 11-3-1
NJD 12-2-0

Obv the road is practically done for BUF/PIT/NJD barring a serious 2007-08 style Boudreau run

Still a really tough sched for WSH but it's nice to have fate in your own hands and in a good position to make it

WC2 and first-round series vs. Boston Bruins.

Yes, please and thank you.
They should get a little more from the first 3 games. All 3 are on B2B games. So it should be possible to at least beat one of Toronto, Carolina or Winnipeg on a back 2 back. Hopefully we face backup goalies in some of those games to help us out.

I like Lapierre, Lindgren, and Carbery.

Miro is getting there.

A playoff birth with zero expectations would be pretty fun this spring tho I’ll admit.
100% agree. I actually would like to see what this team can achieve as an underdog in the playoffs, rather than adding we sold at the deadline. So no pressure at all.
Currently i do not think teams really want to face us.

Hopefully between the TJ1k celebration, the emotional high of putting themselves back into a playoff spot, and the embarrassing ass whipping the Jets gave them the other night the guys will be amped to come out and take care of business.
The last time the team and Oshie had an emotional game, after TJ's father died, they all just crushed it including TJ's Hat Trick. So yeah, hoping they can use this and demolish the Jets on Sunday.

Caps are 16-6-2 in games he’s played. Very interesting.
Alexyev has been sheltered. Played 10 minutes against Calgary. Similar against VAN. Good game against SEA. Need to keep giving him minutes even if low. He needs to earn more. Like to see him earning 15-18 min.

For a guy who covers all 32 teams I was fairly impressed with his analysis of the Caps and their playoff push. Sticks the landing (imo) with most of his feedback:

Yeah, pretty accurate takes. There are a lot of questions to be answered these last 15 games of the regular season. And if they get in the playoffs, anything can happen. They won't be expected to win, but I don't think you really want to be. I think you want to go out there and skate like you're playing with house money.

I think getting Carbery playoff experience will be valuable. It's quite a bit different gameplanning for a single opponent in a series than it is putting together a gameplan for a regular season where opponents continually change. Hopefully they make it this year and play with house money, that way when they are more of a contender in subsequent years Carbery will have some experience under his belt.

I didn’t expect this squad to be in wildcard contention this year. I still think they have a brutal schedule but you have to give props to Carbery for adjusting to his talent while working with the yutes.

Haven’t watched this one yet but The Hockey Guy is great content. He’s not in your face and obnoxious like a lot of other content which I think actually works to his detriment when growing a following but his stuff is always on point and easy to listen to. Big fan of his and well worth a follow/subscribe on YouTube.

As I see it, Kuemper should definitely get three more starts:

Apr 4 vs. PIT (first half of a back-to-back)
Apr 7 vs. OTT
Apr 14 vs. BOS (first half of a back-to-back)

There are also two games at BUF (Apr 2 and Apr 11) that you could start him as well if you think Chuckie needs the rest, but otherwise sticking to playing every other day might be preferable to keep him in rhythm. He hasn't played this many games in several years now.

Yeah he's very much a hockey guy in that sense. I wish he would have some more graphic stuff though. Still good.
