Their 2nd best C…..it’s going to be felt, big time.I definitely think they should look into moving depth pieces. In the grand scheme of things, moving someone like Dowd won't really change their position as a lower end wild card hopeful. Get some draft capital, see how the season goes, and then work on retooling in the offseason.

If Dowd is your second best center, your team isn't very good. If he is traded, they continue to not be very good. Unless they make a significant add, they will be in roughly the same position in the standings regardless.Their 2nd best C…..it’s going to be felt, big time.
Don’t blame me for the truth today….If Dowd is your second best center, your team isn't very good. If he is traded, they continue to not be very good. Unless they make a significant add, they will be in roughly the same position in the standings regardless.
Edit: And for the record, I like the player.
I don't disagree though. I think you are 100% right. We differ on where we go from there.Don’t blame me for the truth today….
I’m open to a trade that makes sense. Any trade that makes sense really. Team will just nosedive though…I don't disagree though. I think you are 100% right. We differ on where we go from there.
I don’t think anyone needs to be sold on a Dowd trade. For me it‘s about getting the value. If the market price is less than a 1st (or 2nd plus a prospect), I might keep him for now.I think keeping Dowd only makes sense if they plan on going all in next year. Or if the market determines he's only going to return a second round pick (I doubt this is the case).
He's 33 and while he has been excellent in his role when do the wheels fall off for him? He's missed a decent amount of time over the last few years. If the next competitive window for the team is say 2+ years from now is 35+ year old Dowd really going to be a solid contributor then? Seems unlikely to me, which is why I think it makes sense to trade him now when his value is at a peak.
That was my thought as well. Or could be as simple as a death in the family and he needs a few days to go homeGoing into the wellness program if we're doing wild speculation.
I think this is a good idea.Selling Dowd for an equivalent Sandin-like player (Kaliyev) would also be fine with me if they can’t get a 1st
Absolutely, a young NHLer is a good option.Selling Dowd for an equivalent Sandin-like player (Kaliyev) would also be fine with me if they can’t get a 1st
