I wonder if there could be a match there with one of Orlov/Jensen or even John Carlson. I don't know that they have any really intriguing prospects but they have all of their first round picks and they have to be getting desperate at this point to win a series.

I imagine Toronto will try to tread water for a bit before looking to make a big trade, but if they go on much longer like this I wouldn't be surprised to see them make another gamble.

He is better than Carlson so in a trade for Karlsson with Carlson I would be okey with it. Its only one more year and having Karlsson would improve the PP and also help Ovi. He is 3,5 million better than what Carlson have been the last few years.

San Jose would Get a cheaper replacement who they can Get out of the contract one year earlier.
But WE need to be the one looking to get out from some of these contracts…

Next three games PHI-bad, CGY-ok, NJ-really good. Then off to a four game west coast trip. If we don’t get something like three points before the west coast swing I think it’s over. I fully expect to come back from the trip at 27gp 22pts. and we might be looking up at CBJ by then.

Yeah, the chances of this team making the playoffs are slim at best. We're 24th in the league. 7th in the division. 7th in the Wild Card race.

we won 3 games out of last 13 and we did it in truly ugly fashion, being outplayed and basically outeverything and we are still talking about playoffs and erik karlsson huh? ovie's old, carly is on massive massive decline, oshie's old and beaten up, kuzy doesn't care and shows up once in a month at best, backy is probably done. just get bedard and let him feed ovie to 895 lol, i'm not even mad at this point

What would Garnet Hathaway cost the Leafs? I think this is the type of player they should look to acquire from Washington if they are serious heading towards the playoffs. Adds size and toughness upfront, but can play

Probably some mid-tier draft pick if the Caps decide to sell at that point.

I do think he’d be a great addition to the Leafs should the Caps not make the playoffs.

Mid-round pick, maybe more. If the Caps retain 50% his cap hit is $750k which is a sizable bargain for what he brings to the table.

I am wondering more and more what we can get if we sell off everyone on expiring contracts. I love Orlov/Jensen but they could get us Hampus Lindholm style returns. I'd probably like to keep Orlov around. Jensen as a RHD should get something good. Hathaway has appeal for a playoff team needing a shit stirrer. Sheary has versatility. Eller at 50% could get some bites as an experienced playoff 3C/4C. TVR would have a value as another RHD.

I think they can get a second rounder for Hathaway when the time comes if they sell off. Teams are always looking for that sort of jam lower in the lineup, esp. those just needing finishing touches. The pick might not be until 2024 but I think they could swing it.

I'm intrigued by the idea of a new coaching staff and seeing what most of their youth can do late in the season post-selloff, even if it's sort of a garbage time effort by then. I don't know that I'd expect a replacement coach to be secured in-season, though. It seems more likely it would be Todd Nelson in a scramble while they continue to assess their fate and then address it in the off-season. Unless the hook comes soon and in a sort of Boudreau maneuver to save the season. So many ways this season could go still but if it's going to go in the direction of retaining much of this group it needs to turn around in a hurry.

I think you‘re undervaluing him, especially on a TDL scenario….a 2nd would be my ask, or a conditional 3rd. Maybe something creative like GH +4th for a 2nd.
Agreed. I'm not sure any retention would be needed to move Hath. He's a relative bargain @ $1.5m, especially if he limits his time in the box. And any team picking him up would be exchanging a pick in the lower half of a round (unless it were an acquired pick), so maybe a 2nd straight up would be an even trade.

I don't care if we contend or suck, just don't be in the middle and do nothing, which is what we've been doing the past few years.

Either win the next 10 or lose the next 10.
I am for this. No half measures because that just leaves us out of the playoffs with a crappier draft position.
