This is a you thing and it's f***ing ridiculous. Keep ignoring well structured and rational disagreements because you're "tired of complaining", I don't know. Anointing yourself Peter Laviolette's personal acolyte is going to obviously create a "mob mentality" when he's doing things that don't make sense like benching Strome instead of Kuznetsov.

You've ignored some long and rational posts to pick on one section and then call the whole thing whining and you wonder why there's friction.

So ignore me, hero.

No coincidence the only time you ever respond to my posts is to attack me like this. Hmmmm

Because the only time you pop off at your stupidest and need correcting is when you get all upset and start fighting ghosts.

There's a mob mentality here as it is.

Or maybe it's a textbook case of "If you go through your day and meet an asshole, you've just met an asshole. But if you think you're surrounded by assholes, maybe you're the asshole."

This has been your position before; that everyone else is creating a terrible environment, not you.

These opinions about Laviolette's lineup aren't crazy. Most of them are reasonable, even if it eventually proves out that they're wrong. There's no reason for this level of exasperation and animosity. And again, it's a Speculation thread, so speculating shouldn't feel so verboten.

I never called people assholes I said there was a mob mentality. There is. People here get into narratives and convince themselves they're correct by virtue of corroborating, selective feedback.

This isn't something I'm making up it's human nature etc etc

Again, the same people freaking out and getting mad now are the ones who were losing it in November. They didn't listen to me then and they won't listen to me now.

But I have just as much right to call them out as they do to bitch and moan at every little imperfection, real or otherwise.

Because the only time you pop off at your stupidest and need correcting is when you get all upset and start fighting ghosts.

Is this why you DM'd me with the topic "Seriously, go F#$@ yourself" because you had my posts confused with someone else's?

You aren't in any position to lecture people about decorum or fighting ghosts.

We are beating a dead horse here, literally repeating mistakes from last year. I think we need to give Nicky and Wilson few more games to show what they can do before really going hard on them.
Totally makes sense. Not sitting Kuzy after he's been awful for a couple weeks is what's confusing to me. If the coach supposedly cares about effort, he's one of the bigger culprits.

Hilarious….I have been thinking a similar thought the past month or so….that old saying about every group has an asshole…..only, about one of your posting buddies.

Enough of this fake “everyone else” shit….its like 3 people shitting up the place because some of us push back on the group think, the Lavi hate, the I know more than the coach, CMM, now 19/43, just a lot of constant negativity, etc….

The hockey talk is solid if we can turn off the dickish edge to a lot of the responses (from both sides). Love me some sarcasm, but there’s too much assholeishness here, me included because I’m human also….but damn, we‘re all kinda supposed to be on the same side.

this dude vexes me…..damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Take him out of the lineup and you’re gimping yourself maybe worse. I don’t feel like effort has been the big issue though, more low hockey IQ. Damn frustrating player….

We do all love the same team but just have different ideas on how to improve it. :DD:hit:

It’s..one..friggin’…game.

For all we know Lavi just went to Strome and said “hey, we’re gonna give you tonight off as we try and figure out 19, and 43. No worries, you’ve been great.”

The issue with Eller is that he’s the only other 2-way center we have other than Dowd. He’s crucial to the PK (we’re 4th in the league, a huge key to our success) - by the eye test, and fancy stats, which have him at 93 for PK.

It’s annoying, but I get it, for a game or whatever. Strome and Nick are like the same player. Kuzy has been terrible defensively. So, it’s hard to ice 3 centers who aren’t good defensively.

I hope Nick can eventually displace Eller at the dot, on the PK, and defensively. But he’s not close right now - he’s played TWO GAMES after a surgery we never thought he’d come back from.

Give it a minute. Maybe they’ll rotate and sit Kuzy next game, or move Eller/Strome to wing…who knows. If Strome is scratched indefinitely, I will happily freak out with the rest of you.

Maybe Strome is dinged up and could use the elongated rest.

I dunno. He’s nowhere near one of the guys I’d bench. So maybe there is more to it.

Or not
It’s clear Lavi doesn’t view Strome as one of his top-two Center choices, given he immediately got bumped to wing and then 3C when Backstrom came back. Meanwhile Eller has gone from 3C to 2LW to 4C in three games.

You talk about not wanting to throw the chemistry off, and then go out of your way to cause as much chaos as you can…

I think anyone outside of the core is likely to get scratched for no particular purpose - no doubt to get NAK some game action too, given Lavi keeps mentioning the ‘14 forwards’. That clearly won’t work during the playoffs, and is preventing anyone from building chemistry with linemates or to play/know their role.

Also of note for next year: Dylan Strome and Sonny Milano both have arb rights, which knowing GMBM means they won’t get qualifying offers even if he wants them back. Gotta wonder if they’ll be as inclined to re-sign here if they’re getting healthy scratched again. (Not that it matters, Eller and NAK will get resigned in their place anyway…)

So with HFCaps it's the name on the back instead of the logo on the front?

I'm assuming either Strome's not 100% which makes it an easy choice or Lavi told him there'll be some rotating over the next few games and he's odd man out for this one

Caps currently have mostly good problems:
- so much depth a good player has to sit
- in a playoff position with the most man-games lost
- 2 goalies that are top-notch

I'll take where we're at right now 100 times out of 100 with all the injuries this team's had to overcome

1C capable guys arent growing on trees

NB wont be so good anymore most probably, Kuzy is a trade candidate or at least enigmatic guy
and Strome is a guy who could be a very good piece for the right price

he's the last one to alienate from the F group

if he was injured nothing prevents from saying it one way or another, so I bet he's not

that's just making his contract negotiations harder for no reason

Is that where you landed on that? I didn’t have you confused with anyone I just thought you might appreciate going a round without ruining the boards

No, we want the name on the front to win, but aren't so willing to dig our heads in the sand to realize that the names on the back matter in helping the name on the front get wins.

Stop pretending that the coaches and management can do no wrong. Scratching Strome is ludicrous.

I don't think there is any way for Lavi to sit any of the big guys outside of maybe Kuznetsov just to fire him up. Other returning guys are so big names (salaries) and also huge fan favorites that would probably not be taken very well in your normal fan that pays up the bills, which again is something that is always taken into account when making these decisions.

I don’t think we need to make up convoluted reasons for why Strome was scratched. I think Laviolette just thinks he’s their 5th best/5th most important center. That’s pretty concerning to me.

Laviolette has already shown incredibly poor judgment when it comes to 3v3 player decisions. He’s shown some very questionable personnel decisions last year and the year before when it came to decisions on the blue line.

It doesn’t seem far-fetched for this to just be another case of a poor evaluation of his roster. I think the evidence in the past makes this the most likely explanation of what’s going on.

I mean this is nonsense! It’s very bad! Balance is a two-way street! They need scoring! They need a good power play! I’m going to play God of War: Ragnarök now!
