Also Wendy Marco who enables the strategy of picking prospects who are great at everything but skating.
Sweet. I was hoping for top 10. It’s been like what — 20yrs since we had a top 10 pipeline? Longer? I dunnoBuffalo at 11 today, officially in top ten territory.

Maybe the WHL had a down stretch; whether they're drafting well or poorly under Mahoney is dictated by the WHL guysI think it's Ross Mahoney who deserves the lion share of the credit for the prospect pool. And he's been here longer than BMac.
(I am very interested to know what happened the first few years of GMBM's tenure. The Caps were great at drafting pre-2014. They've been great recently. But there were those below-average years in the middle, especially right after GMBM took over. Why?)
Hershey is extremely banged up and playing like dogshit right now. Plus I’m sure he’s sulking after being demoted and watching Frank play well.Miroshnichenko 1+3 in 7 games since having been sent down to Hershey. What's the deal?
Had the same thought watching that highlight of Protas blasting past Barrie like he was standing still. Wilson was another who improved his skating immensely thanks to the Capitals development staff. It's a major edge to be able to draft talented prospects that other teams pass on for skating-related concerns. Also Wendy Marco who enables the strategy of picking prospects who are great at everything but skating.
There are a lot of pieces. Amateur scotting, pro scouts, skating and skills coaching. Caps have their type. They go after it. They also made bets that were good moves on paper and didn’t play out like Mantha. It’s nice to see that crew getting rewarded with prospects progressing.
Miro hasn’t been impressive at any level this year IMHO. Consider me a non believer.Hershey is extremely banged up and playing like dogshit right now. Plus I’m sure he’s sulking after being demoted and watching Frank play well.
I wonder where we land. He have written about 6-12th place which he thinks are quite close.Kraken #10 today in Wheeler's rankings.
Second full season in North America and already has 39 NHL games under his belt. Was on pace for right around a point per game at the AHL level up until this bad stretch of games where the whole team is playing awful. He showed some great flashes in the Calder Cup run too. Not really willing to give up on the kid yetMiro hasn’t been impressive at any level this year IMHO. Consider me a non believer.
The whiplash on some of these prospects who don't immediately blow you out of the water is mind boggling considering we have two obvious NHL examples of guys who broke out after slow NHL starts.Second full season in North America and already has 39 NHL games under his belt. Not giving up, I’m just not a believer until he shows more of the ability to create his own chances.Second full season in North America and already has 39 NHL games under his belt. I like Wheeler's stuff a lot, unlike most of the prospect guys he's actually a very good writer as well. Seems like it's a very fair assessment of the pool. I think the most interesting/controversial thing is his take on Iorio but I also don't think it's unwarrantedWashington Capitals are No. 9 in 2025 NHL prospect pool rankings — The Athletic
The Capitals have remodeled their pool quickly, with quality at the top and, finally, depth into the double digits.apple.news
This is a pretty reasonable look at the Caps' prospects. My biggest issue is that I think Allen is getting punished by the tiny (2 game!) sample size of the WJC camp. But to be fair, I didn't watch those games, so maybe they were just that bad.Washington Capitals are No. 9 in 2025 NHL prospect pool rankings — The Athletic

I think @kicksavedave has one for Lemay? I know he’s his biggest (only?) supporter for him, in our group
tend to agree with this. This team needs the play drivers, whether it's centers or wingers - doesn't matter. Miroshnichenko's game just doesn't seem to have any identity. He's just somewhere out there on the ice and scores occasionally when he just happens to be around the puck. Nobody can really describe his game for an outsider to have a clue what the dude is about as a hockey player. Not giving up, I’m just not a believer until he shows more of the ability to create his own chances.
