I look forward to these fines being consistently applied across the league going forward, certainly that will happen...

This feels like a situation where the league had to make an example out of someone early on to show they're very serious about it all. More security theater type stuff. I highly doubt the league will be handing out more fines. Teams will just be more careful about breaking the rules

So I'm still confused. Are those four nitwits definitely out Friday and for a set period of time or are they eligible to return if they get negative tests? Is there a mandatory quarantine period once you're placed on the list? Covid blows.

Ive been trying to figure this out all morning. Cant find an exact answer. My money is that they will be out at least tonight.

So we bring up Anderson just in case Samsonov can't go tomorrow and he will likely be sent back to the taxi squad after one game.

At the rate goaltenders have been claimed off waivers, I wouldn't be surprised if we lose Anderson because of all this nonsense just four games into the season.

I don't know why we wouldn't just bring up Fucale to back up Vanecek and save Anderson for when we might need him for an extended period of time.

Really all depends on if these four miss games or not. I haven't seen anything definitive. Could be nothing or the next 3-4 games...Pinho, Fehervary, Anderson, and McMichael are practicing with the NHL group and that tells me they are preparing for them to miss the game(s)?

If so, I'd stick Sheary in Ovie's spot, McMichael in Kuzy's spot, pair Siegenthaler with Carlson, roll whoever in net

12pm Zoom/media so maybe Lavi will have details on if the Russian 4 will have to miss any game(s), so far seems like the only detail is the 100k fine and they're currently on the Covid protocol list for unspecified amount of time

Too early to draw conclusions about Taxi Squadders practicing, it may be just to fill in for the day, we'll see

Really NHL?
The covid doesn't exist on the bench?
BTW, did the Stars and Canes were penalized/fined for REAL covid

How many games will they be out?

I don't understand all these arguments people are making. What is being suggested, that players put on masks when they come off the ice and then take them off before going over the boards? How would that even work in a practical sense?

Or is the argument the opposite angle in that people are saying why is it OK to unmask on the bench but not in the locker room or hotel room? To me the answer is obviously one of exercising the maximum REASONABLE caution. If someone is not physically exerting and engaging in contact or line changes that make masks impractical then they mask up. And everyone wears a mask and distances everywhere else, whenever possible.

Otherwise the season gets canceled entirely.

Not an answer but some insight given having to deal with my gf who had/has covid and is dealing with it's long-term effects (still can't smell or taste nearly 100% and has shortness of breath). Quite devastating for a foodie who used to compete in marathons and was very active.

This is per the nurses administering the tests at my local clinic and hospital in NOVA:

In order to test, they have to wait 5 days in order for there to be enough 'viral load' to test. So if I was exposed today, then I would have to wait 5 days to be tested. Then, over the course of 14 days, I had to be repeatedly tested to ensure I wasn't going to be positive (which I didn't). I'm sure there are some SOP's with the NHL they are adhering to, but might be uniform for everyone. Given they've only been around each other, I would hope the time parameters would be shorter.

So the answer is, I don't know.

This sucks to read man. Very sorry to hear about your girlfriend.

Too many unknowns to know what's going on with them at this point. I imagine one of them, at least, tested positive and then it came out that they broke protocol.

He is recalled for one game, he will stay in NHL forever. I hope it will be true for McMichael. And Fehervary playing over Siege and TvR will be awesome. Russian 4 did a great job by playing all togather in MarioKart w/o masks if all this is tue and Anderson make us waive VV back to the AHL.

Thanks. We are both very careful and pro-mask so have no idea where she contracted it...

I think if a player tested positive, the whole team would be quarantining given the video of them in the locker room . I believe the NHL is making an example.

PS Anyone reading this: Get tested if you've been indoors near strangers. It's free, quick, and I got the results 3 to 4 hours later. The problem with this is that when the symptoms start, it's already too late if you've been around the person prior.

No joke I had it back in Nov have no clue where I picked it up from but worst thing I've ever had to deal with and I'm still dealing with the after effects of shortness of breath/coughing all the time. When I had it got told much the same anyone in the house hold had to quarantine for 14 days after my positive case was confirmed passed. So if someone tested positive it would be a minimum of 2 weeks before anyone could be around them. I'm thinking this is all 100% the NHL saying look we told you guys after the twitter video of the dojo broke - now we hear the Russian's were just hanging out in the room maskless breaking protocols figure it out Caps or face the escalating consequences.

Which left d comes out to make room for Fehervary? 9?
Yea, Orlov. I'm not sure Fehervary is the one going in, I imagine Siegs is still ahead of him for LHD.

Pairing Siegenthaler with Carlson should be the move, maybe get Fehervary a game

I’m all for punishing ppl for breaking the rules.. and they did break the rules... so they should face consequences.. but 4+ games and 100k fine for being in the same hotel room as your teammates.. the punishment just does not fit the crime. Unreal.

Comfortable punishments rarely work. There has to be some pain or people won't pay attention.

What if the punishment is too light? Say some guys are tired of playing and decide to screw around "oh who cares, if we get busted we'll just get a game off and a slap on the wrist". Then teams start going down and the schedule is decimated.

This is the price they're paying for not having a season in a full-blown bubble. They could always go back to that if following the rules doesn't suit, but then they'd get homesick again, wouldn't they?
