I came across this while googling Caps jerseys. Curious... is this you??

Is not. I tend to try and buy only game used or game issued these days, so they are harder to find. That’s said — I’ve got most of that line up with covered with those types of jerseys. Missing Ovechkin, Kempny, DSP, Connolly, Djoos.

I’ve got many different Ovechkin jerseys, just none are game worn or game issued. Too expensive.

I’ve got all the rest as knock offs, save Djoos.

I already feel poorer just by reading that bolded part.

Ha. Well, I’m 51 and business is good (I am in the Mortage world), so it’s my one real “splurge”. That said, my wife blows up at me every couple of 3/4 months

They will hold some value even if they don't appreciate (though that's possible, are they they real Made In Canada versions?). Part of a well diversified portfolio!

They are all real. Paperwork included. Some are the old Maska’s, some are Reebok, some are Adidas, etc etc. I know I’ve missed a brand or 2, I’m at work so cannot check, LOL

That's awesome! I have a GI white Adidas MIC that was a #3 that I had Keeners strip and do as #8 with Stanley Cup Finals patch so is exactly like the one Ovi had on when he hoisted.

Also have few Reebok Edge 2.0 MIC TI blanks that I'll get done up one day. Would very much love one day to get a red and a white from the early - mid 90s before they changed.

Lots of those can be had on EBay. Just need to search for what you want, and flag it. System will send you new items as they come into the site (Daily)

Those sweaters all suck. Hated the screaming eagle always, and while it's better in this color scheme, it's still awful. And that navy W thing... the f***? Give me a play on the navy winter classics, but that... ick.

Yeah those are f*** ugly. That red eagle sweater is real bad.

I'm not saying the screaming eagle is the best but that color scheme does it zero favors. Somebody made a good post in the main boards thread about the Pens doing white versions of their old black jerseys pointing out that the line was called Reverse Retro for a reason, and I'd way rather see a flipped (and maybe updated) black jersey with the eagle on it than either of the versions offered.

I love the red eagle mockup, and unlike the majority I never loved the original jerseys or the current thirds, so off with their heads!

Those blue mock-ups are nice. Reserving opinion on the reds until we see the real thing.

Thanking the heavens the stupid retros are gone.

This opinion is wrong and will always be wrong

But then again, you love the current whites and I think that besides the obvious historical connection, they are bottom tier sweaters.

For those interested in the fancy stats, Dom at The Atlantic ranks the Caps #14 in terms of value added/lost this offseason, and third in the Metro behind New Jersey (+ 4.8 wins) and Pittsburgh (+0.2 wins). For context, the teams ahead of the Caps: Detroit, New Jersey, Buffalo, Colorado, Anaheim, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Montreal, Florida, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and Dallas. All of those teams were worse (and in many cases substantially worse) standings-wise than Washington, except for Colorado.
Washington Capitals
Wins Added: 0.0 wins
Salary Added: -$1.2 million
In: Justin Schultz, Henrik Lundqvist, Trevor van Riemsdyk
Out: Braden Holtby, Radko Gudas, Travis Boyd, Ilya Kovalchuk

The Capitals cut some salary and didn’t lose any value in the process. Henrik Lundqvist grades out better than Braden Holtby at this stage of each goalie’s career and the move allows the team to give goalie of the future Ilya Samsonov more starts. Justin Schultz’s power play ability won’t be used much in Washington but he’s a shade better than Radko Gudas and his puck-moving ability fits the Capitals a lot better. Washington is better as a result of those two moves but the team’s forward depth does take a hit in losing Ilya Kovalchuk, bringing them back to zero.

Too bad there is no Metro this year. It'll be some Frankenstein monstrosity with the Metro + Boston + possibly Tampa or something.

Our forward depth takes a hit by loosing Kovy??? Not sure I agree with that statement.
I think they're more just commentating on how their system works there. Kovy was assigned a (positive) value, and he wasn't replaced, so the Capitals score suffered simply because they lost a player worth however many wins with no replacement.

(I still don't like any GAR/wins/all-in-one metrics currently available)

Considering he was retired a few weeks ago and Laviolette was kind of coy about him coming here, the fact that he was able to talk him out of retirement for a few years is great.

This is the guy everyone wanted here. He did a great job as an assistant in Nashville. This is very good news.

Edit: The coyness is from Tarik who suggested that McCarthy might want to stay "retired" but again I'm not complaining about this change here, this is fantastic news.
