Too bad AJF isn't around to get mentored by Hagelin.Same thing as Rico Fata. Waiting to get invited to our next Alumni game at Kettler.
I think Hagelin will serve as a good mentor for Stephenson.

I wish Caps traded for Kreider. Would take not that much I think.Kreider is definitely playing tonight.
The Bolts had recently sent Mathieu Joseph (51 GP, 13 goals, 7 assists) back to the AHL in order to make room for Anton Stralman I believe. Joseph would be tied for the team lead in goals scored if he was on the Coyotes. The Laval, Quebec native ranks tied for fourth among all NHL rookies for goals and is tied for 12th for points. Crazy depth is right!I've been a little disappointed in the defense at times and looking at a team like Tampa that has crazy depth you need to have it on all 4 lines. Hagelin is absolutely helping there.
Weird.
Honestly, I feel much better about it since we didn't lose depth--or much of anything really--to get him. If he can find some of his prior form and the whole thing doesn't cause locker room problems, this could end up being a really good get. But still, seeing him in a Caps sweater is flat out bizarre.I’m in the minority here — but I think this is awesome. I’ve been asking for him as an add most of the past few months. @Sam Spade and I were the 2 talking about him after he got sent to LA.
So I’m obv excited. I think he will be just what the doctor ordered for this team and the bottom 6.
One Pens fan summed it up best: his speed and Defensive awareness allows his line mates to take offensive chances that they normally couldn’t. So we will see where he actually plays 5on5. Caps system is now similar to what he excelled at during the 2 Cup runs
Jagr in a Caps uni will never not make me cringe. After having seen Jagr, Cooke, Feds, and Brashear as Caps I don't think anything will weird me out.
Weird.
Again, I don't see the reason to hyperventilate over Weber. You do recall that he was brought in as an 8d. Right? He was supposed to be marginal. 6 and 7 that year were Chorney and Nate Schmidt. Chorney played 7 games that year and was never used in a playoff game by Trotz again over the next two seasons. Schmidt was a rookie and played 6 games.
Weber played in 2 games. Trotz decided to dress him, I am guessing because Orpik was hurt and Chorney was way over his head. Now if you want to blame MacLellan for relying on Chorney and Schmidt and not trading for a top 6 defenseman rather than a 8d back up. That's up to you.
I’m not too worried about chemistry in the locker room. I remember hearing about hagelin and brassard visiting Mats Zuccarello in the hospital. He always seemed a really solid guy. Now chemistry on ice who knows but as a personality and mentor in the locker room I think he is going to be just fine.Could pay off if the chemistry in the locker room is there. If not, may backfire...

That’s exactly what I’m saying. You don’t have a Stanley Cup tier roster, have rookie Schmidt and Chorney in line for ice time, and then go and snag utterly washed Mike Weber. That’s not a good deadline, sorry.
Outside of Kempny/Jerabek, please name a good deadline acquisition. You can’t do it because it can’t be done.
Also, I will go on the record and say I think Hagelin is a solid move. I’ve been thinking they’d get someone either fast or physical, or both, for the middle six. He’s at the lower end of that spectrum since he’s a pure bottom sixer at this point, but I like the speed/PK element he brings for sure. Could definitely pan out.

He has irritated me for so many years, I don't think I can just let it go.
