Anyone can lose a series, especially in baseball, but looking at those teams (Montreal, Ottawa, Buffalo, Arizona), we lost 9 games to them (only 2 in OT). That is 18 points against very weak opponents. Win less than 50% (4 games), we win the division and we are playing Washington. Hmmmm, Tampa or Washington, who would we rather have played.

Not saying they should waive him at this point, but if he can't get back to playing condition it is an option.
Sure, they'd be carrying 4.5 dead cap space, but they could recall him if required.

Yeah, it was a point made about how inaccurate the +/- stat is when a single player scores the deciding assist on a game winner for the opposing team.

With a really strong performance tonight does Samsonov get the Start Saturday, or because it is Ottawa that is reserved for Murray/goalie starts are mapped out for the 1st 10 games already.

It's done every year and they go through it pretty proficiently, at least the coaches/staff/scratches. I bet it won't be ridiculously drawn out like yesterday.

I think they should keep alternating for the first few games, maybe up to game 5 or ten. that way both of them will get over their early season rust and there's a bigger sample size to judge from.

You are mistaken. They lost once to NJ and only 3 times to those 4 sad sack teams we lost to. The point remains, we lost too many games to bad teams.

We know Keefe makes these goalie decisions ahead of time - there's likely a plan in place that would have had Murray / Samsonov / Murray for the first 3 starts of the season.
Other than a shutout 1st star performance tonight, I would anticipate that Murray gets right back in against Ottawa.
