lol of course Stein copies this word for word

Between the pull after the 2nd period (With a game tomorrow night), Vanecek getting scored on and those quotes, I'm really feeling a Blackwood start tomorrow night in Detroit. Combine that with Vanecek's last game against Detroit..... I think we're colostomy bag again tomorrow night.

I was skeptical all along that the goalie pull wasn't the ole ''Jacques Lemaire let's throw Schwab/Dunham/Danis in there to give Marty some rest because he's playing again tomorrow' move.

Sorry guys. I wore my white road jersey today. It doesnt have the best of records.

Seriously though. The poster that said timing is everything... That is spot on. Although Bratt semi-redeemed himself from that shit play by getting a junktime goal.... Timing is key. We needed that goal while he was on the PP instead of that glorious pass he dished to other team for a goal. So momentum timing is everything. Everything spiraled down from that 1 play. Yes they were already 1 goal down but that is nothing in grand scheme of momentum. Really killed usm

Anyway. Blackwood was not good. Having an extra save would help too. Timing. Although he gets a pass on the 3rd goal only most others maybe he could have helped us more.

Oh and.... Convert on those damn grade A chances. Two of them in that dire 2 goal deficit time in 3rd. At least 2 in the first period. Would have had dramatic dynamic effect on outcome.

To tomorrow.

Yes he is leading the team in points. But he needs to shoot the damn puck. Scoring goals is just as important as making saves. And you don’t score when you constantly pass the puck when you have a better shot.
If you don’t think Bratt needs to shoot the puck more instead of trying to make the pass virtually every time then I don’t know what else to say.

I don't think Bratt needs to shoot the puck more. He shot the puck plenty last year, one of the top 100 forwards in shots/60 5v5. That plus all the incredible passes he makes means that he is making a lot of stuff happen on the ice, and I'll trust his instincts over mine on the couch.

Team played bad. Terrible night from Hughes, Mercer, and everybody not named MArino or playing on the 4th line.

And Mac was worse than all of them. Why defend your worst player?
I defend the player when people jump on him for every single goal.
I don’t care how bad a player is when other people share culpability I call it out.

Blackwood sucks end of story. Some of you think he gets the benefit of the doubt when he doesn’t let in dog shit goals against struggling shitty teams. He’s a bad goalie.

There were also some horrible turnovers that lead to goals against, but some he still should have saved.

I’m talking about this year. He had at least 3-4 today where he attempted a pass when he had a clear shot. It’s like he is afraid to shoot.
He is an incredible passer but so was Gretzky and he shot when he needed too.

I swear if Mac wasn't a homegrown Devil he wouldn't have any defenders left
I've given him quite a bit of leeway given how weird the last few years have been, but I'm pretty much done with him at this point. I just don't see him suddenly finding the consistency he's lacking, at least not here. Maybe a fresh start somewhere else in a more goalie friendly system would help him.

The whole team was ass.
But that’s the thing, we were not really the worse team over the entirety of the game..
We had a bad stretch but overall outplayed them but we can’t score and our golaie cannot make a timely save. Oh and our PP has not scored a timely or much needed goal in the last decade.

I don't think McKenzie has defenders... it's just the "it's the goalies" thing is getting more and more absurd with each passing year.
the goalies have been the biggest issue year after year. They addressed the defense over the past few and the same shit keeps happening thanks to the pile of trash in net

For me, its still the same two issues.

- Not enough right shot forwards on the team. This is a huge part of the reason why the PP isn’t great and why they can’t finish many plays at 5 v 5

- Goaltending. Mac has to get two of those in the 2nd. As someone else mentioned, the Ovi goal was hard to watch. Him not moving over or tracking the puck was awful.

Thought they played fine. It’s these things that keeps killing theme. I’d look to package some left shot forwards for a right shot. Also, get Holtz in the lineup.

They still have 2 anchors. Next year hopefully will finally be the year we get rid of the deadweight.

No the biggest issue is we tried to build a run and gun team and forgot to buy bullets.

My fearless prediction is Blackwood starting again, six defensemen with Bahl sitting and Boqvist being the 12th forward just to further annoy us.

What's annoying to me is Ruff will dress Holtz tomorrow, and he won't score and Ruff will be like "see? He's not the solution" and scratch him again.

Holtz is definitely not the answer for 1 game. He needs to stay in the lineup.

Between that and the hot play PRE-pandemic.

Like I've said...... ONE QUARTER OF A DECADE AGO.

It won't be pretty on Friday night at home, if we lose tomorrow night. Even if Vanecek plays and gets bombed, although it might prolong the reaction another game or so.

But after tonight's Bronx cheer, I'm really feeling the boo's when they announce the starting lineup on Friday, maybe Sunday.

And ''Fire Lindy'' will be happening again.

It's gonna be bad.

By the way, Blackwood is somehow believe it or not, Blackwood's play over the last 60 games gets even worse after tonight's drubbing.

I kept repeating that he was ''.893% over the last 55 games''. Actually, it might have been .892%, I forgot already. But I can tell you with the first 5 games of this season that it drops to .891% over his last 60. It's getting worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse.

There's been these games where every time he gets up to .900% for the game, he allows another goal to put him below .900% for the game. That happened in game 1 this year, that happened in the season finale last year. It kind of happened tonight, as I think it was 1 goal on 11 or 12 shots at one point and that turned into 5 on 17 and then he made a save, which was the Bronx cheer and it was 5 on 18.

So then he gets up to above .900% on the SEASON after last game and now he's been blown back to Thunder Bay with a SEXY .871% on the season. I'm pretty sure his last 17 starts or so are about an .871% or maybe even worse. Before game 2 of this season it was like .864% over his last 13 regular season starts, then he had the last 3 games and it might have raised that, but tonight with the compensation prize or market correction.
