I agree with you, but until we start losing 5-4, 6-5 or at the very least 4-3 games I dont even think its worth wasting our energy trying to over analyze every soft goals allowed. The truth is we're not going to be a playoff team with that absolute lack of finishing. I feel like the 5 goals allowed are just a snowball effect from all the wasted chances from our offense. This is the number 1 problem with this team right.
I would agree we need to start finishing. I mean that’s the point of holtz. Hopefully after tonight we go back to 12 forwards. Maybe holtz would have scored a pp goal and changed the flow of this game. Oh well.

Yuuuupppp. Good game to learn from. Started real strong, then 2 bonehead plays screwed us.
Why is learning from this game any different than any other game? Did they learn from the Philly game? The Detroit game? Last season? Every other game against the Caps in the last 3 years?

I wish I could agree but this team doesn't seem to learn anything from anything. That's what's so frustrating.

So with three power plays the Devils have not scored while allowing a shorthanded goal, have only one goal from the so-called fourth line against yet another backup goalie, but sure it's the coach and goalie that are the problem.

Exactly we can’t really “learn” from this when it’s a carbon copy of the garbage we’ve seen time and time again. We can’t score and our power play sucks. Until we get a legit scoring winger it’ll be the same thing all season

The structure of the Devils powerplay is a mess to begin with. They don’t even have a real bumper in proper position in the slot, they immediately get out of formation and wind up with two net front guys.

To be honest, I couldn’t even tell you who our bumper is at this point. One second it’s Nico, the next it’s Mercer, the next it’s Bratt. Just a disaster.

I don't think it's the system, they're just bad.

THIS was the game to win. This game. Against a team you should be taking a playoff spot from. Against a team that started nobody in net. Against a team that has been kicking sand in your face for years. THIS was the game to win.
Yup.Makes it even more frustrating. It’s not like we got outplayed so bad. We beat ourselves. We could nkt capitalize on our chances and we made some dumb mistakes and they scored in every single one.
