Finally watched Across the Spider-Verse, that's a good ass movie. Frankly just because of how stylized it is, even if it weren't good it would still be really fun to watch but both of the ones I've seen now have been A-level movies.

Really, truly good.
Finished it finally….damn good movie. Can’t believe where it left us though…grrrr….

the multiverse concept vexes me at times….on one hand, it allows unlimited creativity and a LOT of really fun thing to come to life, if only for a quick glimpse….on the other, it’s just too easy to fix things.

I feel like... well, comics are just sort of suited to that, because it's always been true.

I mean, basically for as long as they've existed in the form we're talking about we've had writers come into a property, say "yeah I don't really like where this is going" and make their own run of a story with different themes and influences, repurposing or restructuring characters, etc.

I think they even kind of touch on what makes multiverse storytelling special a little in this movie, because you've got a character who leaves their universe when the consequences seem too severe but isn't satisfied by it, and the return and resolution matters more than just being permanently out of contact but doing totally fine. The angle isn't "can our characters efficiently avoid or correct the problem", it's more like "do we as viewers care about the problem enough that we still want to see it solved even knowing there's a multiverse?" and I think they do that right by grounding the characters more in their emotions than their tangible goals. That's why this works and the Doctor Strange movie didn't really at all.

You could always drop a comic for a different run but when you find a version that resonates with you it doesn't really matter how many others there are, you know? Feels like a well done multiverse is a lot like that, you're meant to care about what the emotional tether cares about. Miles meeting his "true" mom really sold that for me.

Gen V season finale was strong….
Finished up S3 of The Boys and went right through Gen V and thought it was really good as well. Maybe it was my long break from The Boys but Soldier Boy just cracks me up.

Man Blue Eyed Samurai was great. Really hope that is renewed asap.

I can't wait to see it (don't have access to Netflix right now but I will soon).

Currently watching "Bojack Horseman: S1". Absolute riot. And apparently future seasons are even better.

It's a gem, a really well rounded piece of work.

It wasn't something I thought I wanted or needed, but once I watched it I realized that regular human sexuality is kind of almost not represented in most anime, it's almost always either fan service or like the entire point of the show.

This one is just like "yeah sometimes people are naked and sometimes they have sex, it's just part of the story and life happens so deal with it" in a Game of Thrones sort of way and it's a f***ing great breath of fresh air in the landscape.

EDIT: I just hit the episode that intros with f***ing Metallica and it came out of nowhere, but still managed to keep from being fully gratuitous with some big sequence. Damn. That was awesome with restraint.

Baltimore-ish
Scream 6 - decent but plot was a bit confusing. Went for the stabby gore "see knife enter body" type movie vs jump scares/tension

Gen V -- ho le chit ... very Boys like. Cant believe I slept on this but so many shows out there

LOKI -- perhaps not for me, didnt dig it when I really liked S1.. maybe too much "multi verse" and time travel in there .. feel like the budget was much smaller, scenes much more confined to traditional sets w 3 walls.

The WWII bombing the reich type show made by the Band of Brothers producers coming in January might be a good reason to restart your subscription then also.

Watched a nasty little Argentinian horror movie, “When Evil Lurks”.

A brutal mind f**k that moves at a frenetic pace. One of the better horror movies of this year. You can catch it on Shudder.
I’m at the Goat scene….nutty.

Dog scene….wow….

Pretty decent movie.
