I thought the Hayden C. scenes were good also.
Very surprisingly….
So…

At the end….

Keith David is 100% the Thing right? If I remember correctly the idea is that they emptied all their bottles to fill with gasoline, so the one Child’s drinks out of at the end isn’t filled with alcohol but the Thing doesn’t know any better and is mimicking behavior, which is why Kurt Russell laughs. Also “are you the only one left” instead of saying “we” always get weird

I 'aint spoiler tagging a 1982 movie based on a 1951 movie based on a 1938 novella, that was later remade in 2011 and has also inspired countless homages in TV and video games (in particular, the season 1 X-Files episode "Ice"). If someone is going to watch some version of The Thing, they have had ample opportunity to do so by now.

The fact we don't get a concrete answer is the point. It's just the natural conclusion of the isolation and paranoia that is the central theme of the movie. Even if they're both human all forms of trust have been destroyed, and the lack both the means to prove their humanity and the means to fight against one another if one is The Thing. Even if they defeated the thing, they are still defeated by the paranoia it has created.

I’ll probably watch The Nightmare Before Christmas with my boys. The wife and daughter have a date night.

You know what I think is f***ing crazy? Nickelodeon used to air Are You Afraid of the Dark? and I would watch it when I was like seven. That show is terrifying, why was it on during time slots for kids?? I still remember a bunch of those episodes 30 years later. Different times I guess. My kids would shit themselves if they watched it

Probably going to get baked after the kids go to sleep and after the Caps game is over and fire up a few episodes

Well sure, I get that, but even with the options "open" I still lean one specific way and it's always this way even when I try to remain open on a re-watch. It's so much more him than MacReady that I can never see it any other way even when I try.

7 years old? That's insane. I saw the movie when I was in college (18 or so) and I was still scared out of my wits.

The most terrifying scene in that movie is the dream sequence where the priest sees his long lost mother, begins running towards her, and then, for a split second, they flash the image of the demon.
Absolutely the stuff of nightmares.

Ok, in his defense, he was taking my older sister and I found out he was going to "a movie" with her and not taking me, so I threw a tantrum and rolled around on the floor until he agreed to take me. Still, he was the adult and should have known better, but I kinda pushed him until he gave in. I had no idea what I was in for! :D

I never really like Are You Afraid of the Dark, but it wasn't because I got scared of it. It just felt cheesy and bad, even as a kid to me.

You know what childhood media did haunt me forever though? The "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" books. The illustrations in those were f***ed up.

I loved it but yeah it was never going to win any production or best actor/actress awards.

You know what other show was definitely not appropriate for kids that I watched anyway? Rescue 911. There was some gross shit in that show that an eight year old should not have seen. I still remember some of those images.

f*** .. I was sick on Friday the 13th. Exhausted all week but every work day had a meeting or something I couldnt miss. So come friday at like 4 pm when I had no obligations, body gave up, sick, left work at 4, in bed from 6 pm until saturday morning.

So bummed .... had the big kid sleep over, fun games popcorn candy, scary movie night w the mrs.

Mullholland Drive - havent seen since it came out.

Loki - not as good as S1 imo ... less budget? seems ... less good.

Pounded through that Norweigan show Ragnarock S2 and S3 decent enjoyable.

Loki S2 seems fine so far.

Invasion S2 eps8 last week was good (previous week a little annoying).

I loved Are You Afriad of the Dark as a kid! It's the show that got me in to horror. Way better than Goosebumps.

Has anyone seen "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix" yet?

I'm on the fence about it. The animation and the music look very cool,

but the "alternative lifetsyle" stuff has me concerned.

I don't mind a little bit of that stuff like in "Castlevania: Nocturne" and "Dragon Age: Absolution".

But if it's the actual focus of the show, I'm just not interested.

For those of you that have seen, let me know if the "alternative lifestyle" stuff is bearable or not.

Probably late to the party on this one: Ted Lasso? I just started watching but it's quite amusing.

Fall of the House of Usher? I didn't like the first couple of episodes, then by the end of the series I enjoyed it. But now a week later I am wondering if it was actually any good, lol. Ok a bit of a strange explanation but just feels like it was decent but not something I'd ever go back and watch again?

I really enjoyed House of Usher. But, I don’t mind the overwrought pretentiousness of the Flanagan stuff. I thought Bruce Greenwood, and Mary McDonnell (President Roslin from BSG!) were stand outs.

This was def more fun and trashy than Midnight Mass (loved that), Bly Manor (meh) or Hill House.

Usher is like his typical stuff x American Horror Story x Final Destination, all set to the works of Poe. Which, at times, is just as ridiculous as it sounds, lol.

Random note: I just found out that Flanagan is adapting Stephen King’s “Dark Tower” series. Has a 5 season plan, approved by King. I feel like I’ve waited most of my life to see this adapted, correctly. I’m thrilled that someone with his talent, and reverence for King, is doing it. Ka is a wheel, baby!

A proper adaptation of the Dark Tower would be amazing.

I love how so many other Stephen King stories reference the Dark Tower as well

That movie a few years ago was absurd

Yea, by making it a long TV series, they could incorporate any number of other stories that the Dark Tower connects to within the Stephen King Cinematic Universe, lol.

Also gives them time to build out the world, and expand on the backstory from “Wizard and Glass.”

It’s such a unique combo of dystopian sci-fi, westerns, horror and fantasy. If done well, it could stand out amongst the GoT and LOTR shows. It’s apparently Flanagan’s dream project - so, fingers crossed.

I'll be honest I generally despise genre mashup BS. Two genres can work but three+, meh. I did read part of the first book and passed. Even though I of course acknowledge King's talent overall.

Agree 100 percent.

And my expectation for pulling this off would be: stick to the story and just turn those words into images....it's really that simple - to me
