Considering he’s on his third catastrophic knee injury in five years, he’s untradeable.

Detroit has no reason to try to move him in case he can come back and be worth something, and nobody would give an asset for him while he’s recovering.

The thread title doesn't see to match what you have written. Like why would a cap dump from another team get any quality back from Detroit?

Yzerman is entering year 4 of his tenure with Detroit. He's basically burnt the team down since he arrived, basically not banking on any of Holland's draft picks (anyone selected pre 2019) to hold a key spot on the roster when they return to the playoffs in a couple of years time.

The issue for the Wings, is that I don't see them being good enough to make the PO next season, because of their holes, as well as the quality of the top Eastern teams. Wings finished 26 points behind the Caps for the final PO spot. Nash, the final WC in the West still finished 23 points ahead of the Wings. So, that's a lot of points to make up.

Wings main issue is their Defence as they are very young and it's important to support their young Dmen with good solid partners to develop them.

They can't just take a cap dump type LHD similar to a Staal trade. They legitimately need 2 top 4 LHD.
Reason 1 to pair with Seider as their top pairing
Reason 2 to shelter 19 year old Evindsson, assuming he's on the roster next season. Otherwise, who is Evindsson going to play with? The other 2 RHD as the roster sits now are Hronek who is weak defensively and Lindstrom who hasn't established himself as a NHL regular. If Hronek is going to be a part of the wings long term, he needs a solid partner to help him out defensively.

Personally, they probably need to do another Leddy type trade over a Staal type trade. Move out a pick instead of gaining a pick to add a veteran who has 1-2 years left on their contract. Wings are not in a position to sign quality players without overpaying for term or dollars.

David Savard kind of intrigues me. I wanted Detroit to get him in the off-season last year and think he could still be a good 4/5/6 option on D.

3.5 mil, 3 years left. I’d give up Tuomisto as a starter for him. It’s not a ton of relief for MTL but it helps.

I also like the idea of nabbing Alec Martinez from Vegas. What would it take to get him?

Nate Schmidt in WPG also has some value as a PMD but isn’t quite worth 5.95 mil for the next 3 seasons. What would WPG want in a reasonable trade for him?

And DET would take Mrazek from TOR but they would definitely have to pay for it.

If Toronto refused to trade their 1st for a TDL acquisition, they’re not doing it to dump Mrazek.

If you want a first, look toward Monahan.

I find it amusing that Wings fans still think they'll get first rounders for cap dumps.

It's so easy to massage salary and so many teams that just want to hit the floor and nibble at revenue sharing that cap dumping isn't a reliable way to get assets anymore.

I also don't think Chris Ilitch likes the idea of paying for picks considering they've really only made one cap dump move in the three years since Yzerman was hired, and that was only eating a few million on the Savard deal.

Chris I isn't paying 4 million for a pick in the 70-100 range.

Just because the player is a dump, doesn't mean they wouldn't improve the team.

I’m gonna guess if somebody wanted to make a proposal including one of the four players you mentioned as, “Untouchable”, they probably would’ve made a new thread and not inserted it into a thread about cap dumps….
