The Province is a Postmedia paper. Say what you will about Paul Godfrey but they do employ actual journalists. At least it was all actual journalists until they acquired Sun Media.

why would buffalo trade reinhart?

He won't be a top 6 center with ROR & Eichel, he doesn't fit the mold of a physical shutdown center (and the GM is all about a top 6 & bottom 6). He isn't a fast or physical winger, he isn't a big body, not someone who carries the puck in transition and he isn't a sniper.

He is probably one of the smartest players for the Sabres tho. Knows where to be, anticipates where the puck or play will go very well, makes good defensive plays with his stick and has a gift for passing.

Just need the other people on his line to be strong in areas he lacks. May not fit with ROR & Okposo as they need someone to fetch the puck from the corners. May not fit with Eichel without a speedy forechecker like Kane on the other side.

Tanev for Reinhart, that's a fair deal.

But no way that we add

It doesn't make sense for Buffalo. Tanev is excellent, and would fill a need for Buffalo but the Sabres aren't deep enough up front to withstand Reinhart's loss. He's Buffalo's best possession-driving forward and he makes everyone he plays with better. It'd be robbing Peter to pay Paul. I'd love Buffalo to send Vancouver some package of Kane and prospects/picks for Tanev and a cap dump, but that's not going to get it done.

This has turned into a Reinhart thread, and that's not happening.

I agree with the Sabres fans. You give to get when acquiring potential #1C's in the league. But the Sabres have also very little reason to entertain DimJim and his Canadian PM like drunken sailor spending ways would be to get way more than he probably should.
Tanev V package seems like a lot to us Canucks fans, but the Sabres are one of the few teams who can say they have a better RHD on their team already and don't value our like the #2 we do. They also have a higher potential scoring threat make up of offence. All of us which leads me to believe DimJim is blowing smoke to make Ownership think he's doing his job.

Buffalo scouts have been watching Utica. All signs point to Virtanen.
Three of Utica's five games to close November are versus Rochester, with the other two opponents (Syracuse, Toronto) on the Amerk schedule to start December. Why can't it just be advanced AHL scouting or which recall to make in the rotation with Buffalo's injuries?

As a Canuck's fan, Tanev definitely isn't worth Reinhart. While he's excellent defensively, he's very limited offensively, and has had trouble staying in the lineup lately due to injury.

I don't think there's really anything realistic on the roster that would be worth Reinhart. That said, Tanev is definitely much more valuable than Kane. I wouldn't give up much of anything to acquire Kane. Hopefully the Canuck's are smart enough to stay away unless the price is minimal.

Benning was high on him during his draft year. Big fan of his game.

Virtanen+Subban+VAN 2nd+CBJ 2nd they owe us from Torts
for
Reinhart

Why in the hell you Buffalo even consider this. Reinhart is going nowhere unless your offering up a top pair defenseman.

I'm pretty sure Buffalo immediately hangs up. However, if this somehow happened I will instantly buy a Reinahrt jersey.

What's your excuse?
Kane excels playing basically on his own. Generates offense with elite speed of the rush, and a good work ethic on the ice and in forechecking.

He doesn't really work with his teammates. The best way to use him is basically as a one man third line. A very dynamic penalty killer as well.

Kane-Scrub-Scrub will be able to perform well as a third line.
