Hoglander scored 24 goals last year. I know he had a poor showing the later half of the season, but it's not like he doesn't belong to play. It was his first real competitive season in the NHL.

He's scored more goals than Garland and only had 11 less points than him. You'd kill for guys like that making 1,100,000.

Yeah I just don’t get the impression Tocchet is much of a fan and I don’t see him playing Hoglander in the bottom six full time so it’s probably top six or bust for him.

If he ends up in-and-out of the lineup I could see management opting to use that salary space elsewhere.

On a side note, I wonder if we’re actually going to refer to both Elias Pettersson’s by their full names or if we come up with a different play by play name for one of them. On elite prospects, D-Petey’s middle name is Nils, and according to wiki, OG Petey’s name through childhood was Frederik.

Also just found out OG Petey is actually of Finnish descent Lol

Also I’m really not gonna enjoy having to write out OG Petey and D Petey every time if and when D Petey becomes a full time Canuck

Really hope they leave Lekkerimaki with Pettersson and DeBrusk for a bulk of the pre-season and exhibition schedule. That trio has everything you'd ever want in a lethal scoring line.

I really don't think Lek is as far away as people realize. Think 'David Pastrnak' who only played 25 games for the Providence Bruins in his first season in NA, and then came up and never looked back.

For sure. There’s a good chance he sticks with the main club at some point this season.

Could be the start of season, might get sent down for more seasoning then brought up permanently later on.

i think he's in europe in a couple years either way. i dunno what people see in him as a prospect
Literally everything else but his skating.

Tendonitis does NOT heal with rest. Worst thing for tendonitis is rest (except tennis elbow). It heals with optimal load management and usually heavy and slow resistance training. It can persist for a very long time but not be as problematic depending on a multitude of confounding factors. He probably should've had down time from skating and focused on loading at the gym but plenty of elite athletes have managed playing their sport and loading optimally at the gym.
What are you basing this claim on?

I wonder if Lekkerimäki holding a spot would lead to the moving Hoglander.

I don't there will be much appetite to move Hoglander if only because we need cheaper contracts to offset OEL. Even with his renewal coming up, he's only a RFA that I don't see garnering an offer sheet. If something comes up, maybe?

That being said, I do worry if he'll regress should Lekkerimaki takes his spot on the top line. Granted, if he does. I suppose that keeps his salary low.

Wouldn't it be better to try Lekkerimaki with the Miller line instead? Having both he and Pettersson on the same line seems like it would be too fragile, even if they develop chemistry.

It strikes me as a soft minutes line with Miller and eventually Bleuger being more of the matchup lines.

I think Heinen has pretty much got that spot locked to start the season. He's by far the best suited out of the available wingers to play tougher, match-up minutes with Miller.
