I’m glad somebody remembers. The contract was terrible relative to his peers and it was clear at the time to anyone who bothered to look.

I agree it should have been done earlier. That is what “about time” means.

Maybe I am losing my mind.

Dickinson should have been bought out at the start of the offseason. I am as frustrated as anyone that it took until October 7th for them to dump one of Bennings awful contracts. I agree.

But I’m glad we’re dumping? Dickinson is terrible. His contract was terrible the moment the ink was dry. Being out from that contract is a good thing, overall.

Not at the cost of a 2nd when we have a very weak prospect pool. It’s not like we’re contenders. IMO it’s poor asset management

Agree, Dick is awful

Glorified Tim Schaller. No idea what the pro scouting department was doing there.

Correcting mistakes is generally expensive in the NHL and as you’d expect the worse the mistake the more costly to clean up. Ouch. Pain. Another year with no 2nd round pick.

Riley Stillman is a pretty decent middleweight, seen some of his fights,

Wonder if the Canucks are ready to move a left side asset like Rathbone, since our logjam of bottom pairing left side guys just grows. Dermott/Stillman/Rathbone/Wolanin. Even Burroughs in practice the other day

Other than Rathbone who has his problems I honestly don't see any of the guys in bold being an important piece in Vancouver in 3 years time to be honest.

They are all borderline pacleholders.

A second to move Dickinson. The cost to move Poolman will be even higher. Not sure it’s a price we can afford to pay. Maybe waive him and see if he can improve in Abbotsford?

Yet another second home. Happy I don’t have to watch Dickinson suck but my god, are we ever gonna have MORE picks than less? Seems impossible.

Nemeth, playing for the Coyotes tonight, cost two 2nds. He has the same cap hit as Poolman but Poolman has an extra year. Poolman should cost more than that to get rid of.

The F are you on about? They “had to do this to compete now”

The net 1.3M they get makes them a competitor? Lol. What?
It saves 2.375M for two seasons if they decide Stillman isn't worth it and bury him in the minors. They chose to try and make this roster compete now by committing to the aging UFA's on this roster so they have to free up cap space to be able to make moves to get out of bubble purgatory.

Yeah it sucks but this is the team direction they chose. We've got 2-3 years after this season at best before our UFA contracts stink, can't waste time now.

@4Twenty and @pitseleh curious to hear your thoughts as this seems like exactly the type of trade you were hoping for.
The timing is weird. If they were open to doing this now, they should have done it in June and planned to do so something with the cap space. Will wait to see if another shoe drops before passing judgment. If this is just about maneuverability during the season it is a bad move.

its getting so annoying watching the same shit show from the management group, imo these guys don’t seem any better than Benning, we all know who the puppet master.

Maybe worse than Benning (and I hated him as a GM). This regime has a Rachael Doerrie lawsuit now (per her mother saying it’s now a legal matter and she couldn’t speak on it) and hired Dale Tallon who was all but complicit with sexual abuse in chicago etc. I know the Francesco Aquilini beating his kids and not paying child support allegation / JV rape case isn’t this regimes fault but all in all for a franchise that has won f*** all in a half century , my god it’s a terrible look.

Yes, I tend to agree.

Pretty par for the course with this organization

We’ve traded like 50 2nd round picks over the years

Why stop now
Rinse and repeat

Less picks
=
less prospects
=
more free agents that we overpay for
