Great signing. I like that we’ve specifically gone after PK’ers after the disaster of a season we just had for that. Plus 15 goals from the bottom 6 would be excellent for us. Is this what it’s like not having Benning? I could get used to this.

Our PK personnel has been almost completely overhauled since the struggles to start last year. Only guys still remaining really are Pettersson/Miller (who were killing it to close the season), Mikheyev who hopefully improves on two good knees, and Myers who might be gone soon as well.

With different coaching, different players, healthy Demko you'd have to think those issues are gone now.

Eh... maybe. Are they 10% better? I don't know.

I'd wager it garland. I have a family member that plays with him in the off-season. Pretty much told me Garland complains about Vancouver all the time lol
We don’t like Gnomes here or something? Trade the little puke back to the Coyotes if he truly feels this way about our city.

Ok !! Now I am happy and now Allvin definitely deserves an A for the off-season . This is whom I wanted all along and the term is simply perfect !

Cannot remember a Canucks off-season where it was this good !

Restoring our defensive cupboards with Willander and still acquiring a 2nd round talent in Hunter Brewstewicz in the 3rd round and adding two very intriguing prospects with high upside in Sawyer Mynio and Vilmer Alriksson in the middle rounds .

Signing Soucy and Cole to contracts you just have to love for the defense

And now filling out our needs on the 3rd and 4th line with two young centres under 30 ( Suter for the 3rd line , and Blueger for the 4th line ) While Raty and the other prospects develop
This is a team that can absolutely make the playoffs

Even without a trade, if Pearson is LTIRed all year then they are still under the cap.

With Pearson and Poolman on LTIR has around 1.5m in LTIR space. Can go with several other configurations but everyone at the bottom of the roster makes around the same league minimum so it won't affect cap space.

Man, I just don't like that lineup at all. DG on the 2nd line FFS? Who's Anthony d? Bunch of other stuff I don't agree with, but those are the real standouts.

Not going to lie though, I like like the signing, I'm pretty happy Blueger isn't going to be our 3rd line center, that's for sure.

If we need to make the cap work.... so long as we move one of of our extraneous wingers (Pearson, Beauvillier, Boeser, Garland or Hoglander... in that order) and/or Myers, I'm good.

Then, I might not mind seeing DG on the 3rd or 4th line so saddening.

Anothny Beauvillier. You quoted it wrong since the original post has his name right.

Feel free to sort out the line compositions however you want. I just have these as the players that will be on the opening night roster and how that affects the salary cap.

Just throwing this take out into the mix.

The most logical take. Have a feeling he’ll try to play through camp and he physically won’t make it and we’ll never see him play for us again. Hope he recovers eventually for his personal sake though.

i don’t think beauvillier is special but he’s only got one year left and will likely be successful on any line. he’s the ideal 7th forward.

idc that he makes too much. we don’t need to be worrying about that this season. myers is the expiring you move to free space.

boeser and garland if anyone wants either, obviously

The only thing left on my to do list is parlaying one of Myers/Boeser/Garland into a top four D. I would go with a cheaper, short term option like Tanev.
I don't see this combo on playnow, was it on tonybet, bet365, draftkings, bodog, 888, fanduel, betmgm, bovada or betrivers maybe ?!?!

Love it. Great cap hit for a middle-six tweener. Instantly becomes the only guy on the roster that can slide into a top-6 centre position in-case of injury.

And yes, definitely a precursor to a trade. Doesn’t have to happen for a few more weeks, though.

$1.6m for a bottom 6 that PKs, 10-15 goals 25-30 points, very useful. I like it a lot even though I don't see him as having that slide up to the top 6C potential.

allvin has had a more than decent 2023.

On top of Sutter playing too far up, when he was older and playing lower, they didn’t give him the right linemates.

He needed playmakers, retrieval guys to feed him at the net front and be capable of holding some zone time. He just wasn’t good enough on the puck unless it was at the net or driving to it.

That’s the benefit with a guy like Garland on the third line. He can actually help make up for that if the C isn’t good at it. Although he’s still too expensive and they should trade him. But it’s not as if he doesn’t have utility.

Move may push Aman to Abby, making them a lot stronger. Probably wouldn't hurt his development.

Far as moving someone out have to think it would be a winger given it is the obvious area of some strength.

Myers is no doubt overpaid but still necessary on this defense. Although could argue that after a more than decent World Cup Myers might have some value around the League and may return a playable d-man with a more appropriate cap hit.

Move shores up the middle, which is a need.

In what way is Myers still necessary on this defense??? Literally remove his salary and sign a much better 2m player instead.

Big issue with Brandon Sutter was the long term overpaying deal and that he was treated like a 2C or something, if he was paid and played properly he was a good player

Also one of the fake leaders on the team and not a very likeable personality

Yeah, Sutter was never paid properly and rarely used properly.

What he was was either a 4C or a 3W at ES that could play C on the PK. His total lack of offensive hockey sense and playmaking ability meant that he was generally a line-killing black hole at 3C.

But we constantly used him at 3C, 2C, 2W (with top unit PP time) and he sucked in all of those roles. If he was paid $2 million and used correctly, he would have been a decent asset as a speedy bottom-6 wing/PK specialist.

Kuzmenko Pettersson Boeser

Hoglander Miller Mikheyev

Beauvillier Suter Podkolzon

Garland Bluger Pearson

Haggle all you want about who is in the what line, or if we will see Person or not (Myers would need to be traded to ice this lineup). It’s a very deep group of forwards, it does not necessarily got enough quality (given the possibility of a bounce back year or two). This team may make some noise if we can turn Myers into a decent D. I can feel us preparing to trade our first.

Kuzmenko Pettersson Mikheyev
Podkolzin Miller Boeser
Beauvillier Suter Garland (post-trade Hoglander)
Joshua Blueger PDG/Hoglander

Pearson LTIRetires

Easily our deepest since ___
