I wanna believe this, i really do... But we have lost 10 outta 11. That is god-awful. You got the Sedins who can't produce anymore this year, Burrows who can't score (literally can not score).. Its a failed season. You can't lose down the stretch in the NHL and expect good things. You can't have your #1 players fall off a cliff production wise and expect to play in late April. I understand your talking about an influx of new players but no way some random young players will collectively pick this team up. Its too farfetched, not happening.

For the sedin, henrik suffer a rib injury and Daniel was in a slump.......I think they will bounce back next season no doubt about that.

You are right it is impossible for a "seller" team to get into the playoff? has that even happen before?

Seriously Albert went down, the team go down

Doesn't explain their poor performance all season. Great players don't go a quarter of a season without a goal. Great players don't go 12 games without a point.

His system is ****ing awful. You're saying it's a coincidence tons of players are having the worst year of their career? We can't score worth a **** because Torts system is hyper defensive.

Marian Gaborik enjoyed two 40+ goal seasons playing for Torts. Lecavalier and St. Louis were superstars under him and won a Rocket Richard, Art Ross and Hart collectively. Tampa Bay in general, even during their bad years, was a powerhouse under him.

This is a declining group man. Torts' system obviously has some level of impact but for the most part, this group is just bad.

Looks like offense wasn't sparked by the trade of our goalie like Gillis thought. Hmmm whodathunkit? Same old Canucks out there.

No, but at least their starter has top 5 numbers for the first time since they traded Schneider.

Agreed. That stat is very alarming to me. I want to think they can bounce back but man oh man they look old out there. I knew they were declining but I never expected it to hit us in the face this fast.

Let's see what happens with more games under his belt ;)

Didn't like the goal against tonight, granted there was only one. Seemed to go right through him. Though our defense practically did nothing to help out either.

When did Gillis say that?? He actually flat out implied he'll be blowing it up, meaning he doesn't expect to improve in any way.

I think the twins will bounce back next year.
I would be ecstatic if it was in the 70-75 point range for each.

Our PP has sucked all year. I'll give AV some big credit here, he ran an efficient PP and emphasized on special teams. "Gotta win the special team battles" something that Torts failed to do in NY and failed to do here.

Strip the C from Henrik? Yeah! Let's create another sideshow now that we finally saw the last one sent to Florida!

I wouldn't strip Henrik of the C but we definitely need an injection of new leadership. This leadership group is stale, Henrik included.

He'll probably do great, and I bet you will be cringing through every moment of it, just like you were probably cringing during Game 82 of the 09/10 season when Hank notched 4 assists en route to an Art Ross and Hart trophy.

Something tells me our coaches are gonna be laid off this off-season.

Not sure about the surprise in ice times. This was THE playoff game. If they had one last chance at trying to keep up and somehow turn it around to manage 8th, they had to beat Phoenix. You play the guys who were going. A lot of players dressed tonight seemed uninterested. Short bench. Some players left game, like Richardson, thus Kesler playing a couple shifts extra. Hansen, was on Kesler's line, so in general matching minutes. Why Higgins played 21 too.

Nope. I was cheering for Hank to win that, and cringed when Sid almost took it away. Just like I will support Lack. I just hope we don't ruin him by rushing him as a rookie into the starters role. Seriously how many teams thrust a rookie into the starters role after 20 games of NHL experience? Usually just the bad teams. It's not fair to Lack.

Poor Eddie lol. Goes from loving life as an NHL backup into OMG STARTER!!! where *some* fans are still upset about Luongo and Schneider. Guy plays lights out and the team is just awful.

They had no choice, seeing as how their starter wanted out of this fiasco. It's not like they just thought it would be a good idea to do away with Luongo and hand the reins to their rookie backup.

The whole situation is of Gillis' doing, yes, but why waste time griping about that? What's done is done and Gillis had to make the hard, yet correct, decision to fix it in the best way possible, which was to trade away the malcontent so everyone can finally move on.

Especially when the team in front of him is beyond awful.

The fewest goals we've ever had as a team is 192 in the 98-99 year. We're at below 150 goals right now with 18 games left.

It's hard to say I'm happy with this result, because I'm never happy to see the Canucks lose. I'm just not programmed that way...

...but...

It's best the team loses as much as possible down the stretch and lands a top 6 draft pick. The team is horrible, and it's going nowhere. Making a haphazard run at the playoffs does the franchise more harm than good in the big picture.

This season is just a write off. Get younger and come back next year with some new pieces in the core that can breathe some life into something so stagnant.
