Also. It's crazy to see him looking good in the NHL, when he couldn't even crack an SHL roster last year. Really illustrates how much he's developed in the last few months.
You guys need to pump the breaks and let see how he plays untill the end of the season. I would be happy even if he becomes only a reliable 3rd pair defender. If he becomes more it would fantastic.
It is but 17 months later he is cracking the NHL and his development is something to excited about and to watch as he is still in development.Also.
Cracking an SHL roster as a teenager is really really hard.
His development makes any contract extension with M. Pettersson interesting. D Petey has 2 more ELC years left on his contract. So, if Hughes gets extended, and D Petey continues to develop, probably going to need some flexibility in terms of potentially moving M. Pettersson. I would expect any new deal for him to include a full NTC for the first 2-4 years of his contract, depending on the term and salary. It is but 17 months later he is cracking the NHL and his development is something to excited about and to watch as he is still in development.
At worst he looks like he will become a high end 3rd pairing Dman.
Anyone is moveable even if they have a nmc. If Dpetey grows to a point where he is a legit 2nd pair anchor then you figure out what to do with MP then. There will always be a market for top4D and yeah there might be 2 more expansion draft so you might as well hoarde as many top4 D right now because we can’t protect them all.His development makes any contract extension with M.
