The window to trade Pettersson for any kind of needle moving return was when they sent JT for a timeout and his production bounced back (15 points in 10 GP). At that point a simple "change of scenery" angle was semi believable , he had no trade protection and it was still close enough to when he didn't suck that a lot of teams would have had at least some interest.

Currently he probably doesn't have negative value, but considering the NMC and his stated desire to remain, he isn't going to return much IMO.....regardless of the dearth of available centres around the league. I would love to be very wrong here.

DET, WPG and LA are possible landing spots, but i sort of doubt he's waive for WPG

Unless you find a desperate GM willing to pay up, or he's a problem to have around (not that there are likely to be many impressionables in the room this year), I wonder if makes more sense to plug the nose and kick this can down the road for a bit.

Take a step back and think about the optics of that. They sat a guy down for "bullying" a teammate, and end up trading the guy who got bullied halfway through his bullies internal suspension.

JT Miller may or may not have actually "bullied" EP, but they didn't get along for a long time and created a toxic environment...if they couldn't play nice together and work in a cohesive manner then they should both have been shown the door.

People really do seem to underrate how incredible god awful this center market is.
There is like 8 teams looking for a 2c, where are they gonna find them?
I see maybe 1 or 2 teams trying to trade a C, that's it.
UFA has none
This alone is gonna make EP40 more attractive to teams, he will get a real package, even at his cap hit.

Other Centers on the market

1 - Vincent Trocheck: Two way Center, fits the mold on most teams, Great contract, signed for 3 years at under 6m.
2 - Dylan Larkin: Full NMC, Will only chose a select few teams, but is a clear 1b 2c on most teams, fantastic two way center on an amazing deal.
3 - Elias Pettersson: Makes the most sense, has a big contract, but should at worse be a 2c, with potential to "figuring it out" with a new team elevating that status further.
Full NMC
4 - Mason McTavish: Youngest out of all the guys potentially available, Has still solid upside, needs consistency
5 - Mathew Barzal: More of a Hybrid, Can play C, but also a winger, just became avalible per last week news report.
to me that's actually a pretty strong centre inventory. other than trocheck, those names are in a class that would typically not be availlable. normally you'd see 1 or 2 of them come loose in a season.

So they sat him down for 10 because he didn't see eye-to-eye with his teammate?

I am still just baffled to this day that these two guys just don't seem to know half the meaning of "professionalism".

I've worked with people I just cannot stand countless times - most people probably had to do the same, working with individuals you hate. In my mind I didn't even need to think to the level of professionalism, all I know is job needs to be done, period.

4 of those guys will probably not be moved.
Unless they get absolute Hauls.
Also the Rangers have injuries no? will they still trade Trochiek?

Eh yes and no. McTavish and Barzal aren't really centers. So that leaves you with 3 guys and like 10 teams willing to do something in that position.

I am in the same boat...if I pouted every time I had to work with someone repugnant I'd never get any work done. Suck it up, be a professional, put in your time and get your work done.
