Maybe they could get a Brady Tkachuk.
Whether they were forced to or not, this is a step back for a team that needs to be stepping forward. The real problem is mis-management from the previous regime capped this team's ceiling and Brady likely realized that.
You're talking like being "guaranteed" one of those players is an obvious slam dunk. It's not. Smiths is a projectable #4 "toolsy" type. Rudolph and Cullen have big projection question marks (Cullen is particular is not a blue chip prospect). And Verhoef, who I rate the highest out of these guys, has been dropping down the rankings because of IQ and skating concerns. None of them are automatic, top-of-the-lineup players. Even if they do turn into that, it's a few years down the line, while Ottawa needs to be a playoff team right now.
What they need to do is flip the picks for a roster upgrade.
“Obviously it’s a lie. All those articles, stories, it’s just not true. But I think it’s on me if I let that bother me or take me off what I’m trying to do," Tkachuk explained. "I want to play here, I want to be here and I really believe in everybody in this organization that everybody wants to win here. That’s what makes it fun. Everybody has the same goal and wants to accomplish the same thing."
This Is What We Live ForUnfinished Business
Lundell was never going anywhere for anyone.People were speculating Lundell + #9 for Larkin and now they get to keep Lundell and add Brady for what essential amounted to #9 and Samoskevich.
Zito is a genius.
Yeah that's why I pegged the over/under on how many of the 4 picks they actually use at 1. They need to flip them.Looks like I was immediately correct here.
9th overall is overrated. They probably take someone like Smits, who is a #4 guy. The other picks are B-tier assets (unless FLA somehow falls completely out in 2029). And you still have to factor in the TVM. A 2029 pick isn't a real contributor until like 2032 at best.
This is extremely bad for Ottawa. This is a team that needs to be competing right now, not taking a step back as their core ages into their prime. They should be looking to flip all of these picks (#9 included) for a high-end roster player right now.
Who exactly can they move those 3 1sts + 2nd for that's remotely as good as Brady?
I don't think it's extremely bad though, his list was prob vegas/fl/tb the others of which had even less to offer, and the assets they got are very liquid.

Well, I hear Player A is available, but despite a rough go on his talent starved team, the ballpark between Player A and Player B isn't so different...

Oh god please tell me Ottawa is flipping that 25th pick for Debrusk![]()
For sale, Elias Pettersson, slightly worn.
EP40 to Ottawa.
9 + 25 for Petey and Debrusk. VAN will even kick in SJ's 2nd.#9oa to canucks for any packages consisting of ep40, debrusk, 24oa
He’s only 27 with two years left on a now cheap contract, and can go point-per-game while being a top hitter in the league. One of the rare power forwards in the league.I dont understand the brady top notch asset piece
Too bad there’s no chance Petey and his wife would waive for Ottawa :/9 + 25 for Petey and Debrusk. VAN will even kick in SJ's 2nd.
A steal if you ask me.
I dont understand the brady top notch asset piece
I think he will do well in Florida.I dont understand the brady top notch asset piece
Player B's team of course has more dynamic forward talent to play with and better coaching to explain the gap in production...I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic here, but you can't be serious looking at that chart. 59 points in 60 games is so much more impressive than what Pettersson has done the last 2 seasons.
