That’s such a stupidly short-sighted and desperate trade. It’s guaranteed to happen.

I could see the Sens now wanting to get ahead of Batherson being a pending UFA.

Probably feel if they can turn him into Robertson it's an "upgrade".

Then use the #25 for someone else. I.e. DeBrusk.

So Brady and Batherson turns into Robertson and DeBrusk.

I thought at the beginning of the offseason thatt Robertson for Brady made some sense, but I was a bit surprised that he didn't include Dallas on his list.

Would not be surprised in the slightest if Ottawa pivots to Robertson, assuming he's willing to sign longterm in Canada (which is a massive question mark).

As an aside, I'm sick and tired of the Canadian teams being forced to subsidize these American teams with the revenue sharing agreements, only for the American teams to be functionally able to spend more than we can thanks to tax advantages.

It'll never change, but shoring up a bunch of franchise's weaknesses (poor revenue) and then being told ours are irrelevant is annoying as heck.

The way that 2016 was the zenith of reckless UFA spending, I think 2026 will be the zenith of reckless off-season trades.

Too many teams feeling too desperate to add to their roster to compete amid explosive cap growth.

Vancouver can and should capitalize if they can get their veterans to waive their NMCs.

Trade them this off-season. This many GMs won’t be this stupid again for another decade. Wait and you’ll miss it.

Totally possible. But circumstances show that, in my opinion, this is much more likely a case of a star player getting knocked out round 1, and now is looking for a shortcut to the cup for himself.

I was just thinking the same. I don't think they'll deal him this off-season. Hope that his value sustains up to the trade deadline.
