They’ll have a bunch of extra picks to spend, if the reported acquisition price is accurate.

Steve Staios is someone who'd probably pay an exorbitant price for DeBrusk. The 25th selection is possible, which just sounds hilarious to think knowing what we've seen of this player since he's joined the Canucks.

It's a horrible trade. None of those 1sts are blue chip assets

This puts the Sens in a re-tool phase when these are prime years for Stutzle, Sanderson, Chabot.
9th overall this draft is a really good asset.

I expect them to only end up using one of these 4 picks and the rest will be flipped.

Someone tell Ottawa Debrusk is worth a 1st and EP is worth 9th overall.

Feels like the Sens sold low. A Brady Tkachuk trade seemed of some sort was telegraphed two years ago and they waited until he had a poor season that made such a trade an immediate need.

Its a fine return.

9th overall is a premium asset and that 1st in 2029 could be a lottery pick.

He had 2 years left on his deal.

Brady Tkachuk isnt a top 10 winger in the league.

He also has a full NMC and i think his list was like 3 teams.

Edmonton does it again. Bowman just keeps shovelling assets and cap space at non-impactful bottom-six players.

In a vacuum, Seattle will "win" the trade from a value perspective. Samoskevich will be a top-six forward, which is better than your expected outcome from a 25th overall pick.

In the big picture, what does this actually accomplish for Seattle? The get yet another good-but-not-great forward, and basically just further ossifies their roster as one that will finish 9th or 10th in the West every season.

Florida will convert the picks into another roster player that helps them go on another Cup. In reality, they are the winners here.
Looks like I was immediately correct here.

9th overall is overrated. They probably take someone like Smits, who is a #4 guy. The other picks are B-tier assets (unless FLA somehow falls completely out in 2029). And you still have to factor in the TVM. A 2029 pick isn't a real contributor until like 2032 at best.

This is extremely bad for Ottawa. This is a team that needs to be competing right now, not taking a step back as their core ages into their prime. They should be looking to flip all of these picks (#9 included) for a high-end roster player right now.

I mean, they could only do what the market gives them. Brady obviously wanted out and wasnt re-signing. That and he is going on his own podcast and not defending his own teammates as the captain. This was a Q Hughes situation all over again. They had a price and the team matched it.

They should have pried a Lundell out of there but if FLA wasnt budging then you have to move on. He has a full NMC.

Obviously with Stutzle + Sanderson + Batherson + Cozens you want to win now....but they arent necessarily close to winning right now. Stutzle and Sanderson are only 24.

9th overall is actually a good spot to be in. You are guaranteed one of Verhoeff/Smits/Cullen/Rudolph.
