Canucks & NHL News, Rumours, & Fantasy GM | TRADE SZN

I dont know who we trade Buium for I just see an opportunity to buy lowish on a Bowen Byram while selling highish on a Zeev Buium without really noticing a difference on defense tomorrow or salary a year from now.

Keep Hronek & MP3, trade bambi and Demko, or both goalies.
Acquire Merzlikins, Montembeault, cossa, wallstedt, Ullmark, etc somehow, wait for waivers/opportunity.

With how awful the free agency market is, I think you have to put Hronek's name out there just to see what the offers might look like. Basically, do what Toronto did with Knies. See if someone would overpay and decide if it's worth it then.

From posts I can see/read, Canucks fans definition of overpay for Hronek is pathetic and differs quite a bit from mine own.

Other fans bases not watching or knowing he is a top pairing defender signed to a stellar deal is understandable, canucks fans selling low on their own board is not.

Buium, Willander, ep25, Kurdish, the locker room, manny, the road trips, long flights, professionalism, intensity, practice routes, sticking up for your teammates and goalies etc etc need Hronek, for several seasons atleast.

Combine those factors with the flat cap era ended, the "awful" free agencies every year, and complete dearth of RHD and Hronek value isnt dropping substantially soon (years).
Fourth overall is not enough to outweigh all considerations, not even close.

I’m continuously confused why NHL teams don’t agree to trades on the weekend during busy times like the lead-up to the draft and TDL. It does happen but usually single digits and instead it’s always just kind of quiet.

gms take weekends off too

Unfortunately, while I hope we trade some veteran donkeys at the draft for 2026 picks, it will be a better sellers market after July 1st once the limited free agents are signed, and teams are still looking to improve.

how many times will he say that on draft day? i say less than 10
Gary doesn't appreciate your pessimism.

He's already having Bill Daly train 18 hour days standing in front of a mirror saying it in preparation for when he takes the reins.

Draft picks also seem to have the most perceived value at the draft compared to a time further away from the draft. GMs are basically goldfish.

I’d trade DeBrusk for some marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers.

I'm predicting that even before July 1st, NHL teams will have concluded the obvious. This might be the worst UFA Class in the last decade.

If guys like Hronek and DeBrusk truly are on the block, the bidding war should be intense. Maybe the Canucks can use this to their advantage.

But the offers had better be home-runs. Otherwise you just hold your powder until next March's TDL.

ok...... so Dallas is willing to attach a sweetener for Lyubushkin

this should be a no-brainer
not that high of a cap hit and you can flip again at the deadline

Hell just make it to mid January and teams are starting to get a jump on trades and flip him for what Myers just got

I agree Hronek is worth a lot and they should be going after San Joses 2nd
