I struggle with this...I don't necessarily disagree with the thought process behind it, but I'm not sure how much emphasis needs to be placed on it. We had a lot of quality veterans on the team last year, do we think our young players felt "insulated"? The a lot of the veterans got caved in nightly and the young players were still exposed as young players...it really didn't change anything, we still ended up in last place by a country mile. Now, I'm not suggesting you throw the kids to the wolves, but how many vets do we need for the kids to feel insulated? For me, I'd like to see more emphasis on giving the kids a bigger stake in the leadership group early. I think we saw some good signs of it once Hughes was traded and you saw Buium, Willander, EP25 and Mancini seem to elevate themselves and become a tight group who seemed to want to step up into bigger roles. Leadership by kids supplemented by veterans....but that's just me.
