They want a centre and someone in his age range. There's probably not enough time (or demand) to flip prospects/picks for a roster player, and there's zero chance they'll trade him for futures with no one to replace him this season.

But maybe they flip him in another deal for someone like Ryan O'Reilly

I think the Canucks are eyeing Zacha myself, but Mittelstadt is probably available and probably a bit cheaper.

Maybe I’m alone but I think the Rangers package was at least comparable, maybe a bit better. The difference between the firsts might be the equivalent of an extra first or early second round pick.

Don't see how Allvin can stand pat with Suter, Boeser and Forbort, and potentially lose all of them on July 1st. Sell...sell....sell!

i think they'd rather keep boeser vs trading him to a competitor in the west.

maybe to the avs, since we're very unlikely to encounter them in the playoffs.

but agreed that a liquid asset package *and* a subsequent trade to add a young roster player probably isn't materializing in the way they want, so maybe they do just settle for a straight across trade for a less than ideal asset

I think I a lot of other people are overating Ritchie. He has taken a step back this year and wasn’t good at the WJC. He was a top 30 prospect coming into the season maybe a top 50 prospect now. It still a great haul for Islanders.
