i think they'd rather keep boeser vs trading him to a competitor in the west.

maybe to the avs, since we're very unlikely to encounter them in the playoffs.

but agreed that a liquid asset package *and* a subsequent trade to add a young roster player probably isn't materializing in the way they want, so maybe they do just settle for a straight across trade for a less than ideal asset

The Canucks would play the Avs in round 2 if the Canucks finish WC2, and both teams win, not impossible.

Pretty crazy late night trades.

On the bright side this makes the Oilers path for coming out of the west that much more difficult.
Yeahhh they're sunk, but playoffs this year are going to be crazy.
Both wildcard races are going to be great to watch unfold first.
I think if acquired, the Canucks would use Mittlestadt to get Norris.

Yurov and Ohgren are nice names from MIN, but I think VAN would prioritize a more established player in return. A hockey trade.
I could see that, I'd be okay with either. Like Norris ceiling way more, but way more huge risk and on top of heads down chytil, I would be hella nervous.

Teams like Vegas and Jets yet to make moves. I would hate it but Boeser would score 40 with Eichel…

Looking at the prices would we have gotten more in the JT Miller trade if we had moved him now. I think Boeser trade is close.
Miller effectively Kesler'd us. It was never going to be a good deal.

We should never have lost him and we should have traded our 1st for Marcus Pettersson and DOC earlier in the season. We would probably be looking at a playoff run right now

I see the latest rumor has Rantanen turning down a potential deal with the Kings--which I guess he has the right to do.

Regardless of how it goes with Rantanen, the 'Canes GM needs to visit a shrink in the off-season to answer one question "Why did I do it"?

Expending valuable assets to acquire a guy who so far has given zero indication he wants to re-sign in Carolina, was dumb from the get-go. Apparently in Colorado, the indication was that he'd be wanting somewhere around $14m with term to re-sign with the team. The Av's and Joe Sacic said 'no thanks'.

It'll be a disaster for the 'Canes if he doesn't get traded or re-signed by noon tomorrow, and he walks in the off-season for nothing.

Good. They deserve bad things. Unless they are playing other teams I like less.
