I think you have to put makar above eichel , but I’m a homer, if makar can put up 6 goals he’ll get 30, and 25 points he’ll top 100 very doable in 18 games

I'm just being part realistic in that there is a separate trophy for Dmen, the norris and Hughes would have more of a case being more valuable to his team but missed time.

but sure Makar is one of the best 5 position players in the NHL right now.

why should McKinnon get it if he has makar, why should Dari get it because of mcdavid. I think it’s flawed thinking that makar can’t win the hart because they have the Norris but Hughes can. I mean Hughes does have EP40. Make no mistake Hughes is a great player. I find the fault in the logic

Why should the Hart be to a player who has the worst support?

Basically it's a combination of best player (mainly forward) and most valuable.

I'd counter and ask why can't the best players in the world be the most valuable just because they have another great player on their team?

It doesn't diminish what any said player does and is a weird misguided trend by some on these boards.

Also the Hughes/EP40 for this season isn't even close to the other 2 examples and to quote you

Matthews won the Hart in 21-22, don't really see how Leon doesn't win it this season.

In 21/22, Matthews' GPG was better than Drai's this year and his PPG was close to McDavid's.

Edge to Drai right now but a 10 point Art Ross gap might change that. Mac playing as well w/o Rantanen and McDavid stealing some of Drai's thunder finishing the season may play a role too.

I think it depends on the point and goal differential at the end of the year. If MacK ends up with a double-digit point lead, I think he wins.

My point is this and something you didn’t pick up on. Yo said makar shouldn’t win the hart because he’s a dman. Because of the Norris. Shouldn’t that logic follow with Hughes?

To be frank Hughes season was shortened we’ll never get to know how it would have ended. Again typicaly you have to be in the playoffs to get serious hart attention. Every great player has typically a great supporting cast.

Hopefully next year Hughes has the chance to make his case again

I do like the Eichel shoutout. Probably the most deserving based on lack of support around him. I could see MacKinnon running away with this if the points race ends the same because of losing Rantanen and still pumping numbers and with McDavid most likely narrowing the gap between him and Drai.

Jack Hughes? Quinn hasnt done shit besides be a glorified hybrid specialist with sheltered starts playing zero actual defense still leading his crybaby team to a non playoff position in a terrible division.

What do you have to backup your Quinn Hughes doesn’t play any actual defence statement? Are you basing that off of his defence when he was a rookie? Does your boy Eichel suck at defence too cause he did when he was a rookie? Oh wait he’s actually one of the best 2 way Cs now and Hughes is unanimously a top 2 defensemen no matter which way you slice it. Replace any of the knights d men with Hughes and they’d be cup favourites.

Sure but in your example it was pretty clear that each guy had another great guy then you got to Hughes and EP40. In what way is EP40 this year like any of the 2 previous pairs of players?

Yes the Hart is non existent for him now and the Norris has probably slipped away as well.

Hopefully not as a lot of his case was our top 2 forwards not being that good.

I'd rather have a peak 100 point EP40 type of player and Hughes just settles for the Norris.

Well good thing for Leon his GPG gap over Mackinnon is greater than Mathews was over Mcdavid. His PPG gap behind Mack is also much smaller than Matthews was. Also he's actually played the games so we don't have to use averages. Oh also Mack has like 15 empty net points. It's easily Draisaitls to lose at tbis point.
